Here is the oldest picture that we have of Main Street. The shop on the right in the foreground would have been the left hand of a row of shops that included the Kilns. At the time, these were some of over twenty retail premises in the village. The name of the village comes from the Lime Kilns that used to operate in the village to produce lime for use in the local buildings and for export.
Our logo represents these kilns and is also the name of the website and of the former shop. There is now no evidence of the original lime kilns but instead you can see the structure that superceded these on East Harbour Road in Charlestown. The history book of Limekilns is available for sale on this website.

Services
We are primarily a gift shop and sell a range of items from local Scottish craft workers to Scottish manufactured and overseas for fair-trade organisations. Many of the local craft workers are really local and based in the villages of Limekilns and Charlestown and the fair-trade gifts are made in India, Nepal, Indonesia and the Philippines.
We change the rules by supporting our home grown talent instead of looking to mass produced goods made abroad. We would like to support more industry in Scotland but we need your help to do it. Lesley MacDonald dabbles with glass, gemstones, wool and material and just tries anything. See 'The Kilns Krafts' on facebook.
Jellycat was established in London in 1999 so we are very pleased to stock such soft and cuddly toys from a British company. The name was derived by the imagination of a little girl who likes jelly and cats and giggled at the thought of the two together. All the toys are designed in the UK and have the International Safety CE mark.
We are able to get orders out on Monday to Friday and normally on the day following the order. We use Royal Mail as our carrier, second class postage, and we are currently only delivering within the UK. If you live in Limekilns or Charlestown then please e-mail us at enquiries@thekilnsgifts.co.uk to discuss delivery.

We just love this Gift Shop and scan the windows daily on our walks with our wee Bulldog, Carmella. Always see something really unusual and eye-catching. From Fox Clock, to stained glass fox pendants, quirky cards and, most recently, 3 Highland Cow Doorstops. I had intended to send 2 away as gifts to friends in Australia and Germany, but, due to the weight and therefore high postage costs, we very happily made space for all 3 in top of our bookcase in the lounge!!! A real talking point and a natural opportunity to share where we bought these and spread the word about The Kilns. Lovely, helpful
