The Dove Service
Founded in 1984 by Dr Linda Machin, a leading research fellow, the Dove Service is the only grief support charity in Stoke-on-Trent & North Staffordshire, providing services to people within the community from the age of 4+ who are experiencing issues relating to bereavement, loss or life-changing illness.

The Dove Service can provide counselling and support to children & young people over the age of four, and their families. The wellbeing of employees is vital to the success of an organisation in fulfilling its potential. A physically and emotionally healthy workforce can make all the difference in reducing issues around absenteeism and presenteeism.
Services
To enable people who are experiencing bereavement, life changing illness or significant loss, to receive the highest quality of care and support to understand their grief and cope with their loss. We deliver our vision by providing counselling and group support activities to anyone who is or could be affected by bereavement, life changing illness or other significant loss.
We are very fortunate to have a highly dedicated board of trustees, who between them share a vast array of skills and experience. Anna is keen to help people to improve their mental wellbeing and resilience to allow them to fulfil their potential. As a qualified coach, accredited by the Academy of Executive Coaching, she specialises in coaching individuals on work-related topics, while keeping a focus on the whole person.
Our counselling services are accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). We work within the BACP "Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions" and are subject to the BACP Professional Conduct Procedure BACP.

Many of our counsellors accredited or are working towards accreditation, and we were the first organisation to get all of our counselling team onto the voluntary register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. We place great importance on maintaining the standards of our delivery for all of our clients, and place this at the heart of everything we do.
Our clients are our number one priority and we do everything we can to get the best possible outcome. We love getting great feedback from clients and knowing that we have made a real difference. I was so apprehensive about picking the phone up and admitting that I may need support through counselling, it is also the best thing I ever did!
We are a charity who offers counselling and support to anyone over the age of 4 years old who is struggling with the impact of bereavement, significant loss or life-changing/limiting illness. We also offer counselling for people with anticipatory grief, which is the grief we feel before a bereavement; you may feel anticipatory grief because someone close to you has been diagnosed with a terminal illness for example.

I rang six weeks ago. After phone consultation I was offered Cognative behaviour therapy. I would be contacted in four weeks. After six weeks I rang them, i was promised a call back. The following day I rang again. Am now told the waiting time will be three months. Not in a good place at moment and to not even let me know that something I was relying on would not happen is, in my opinion, not good for my mental health. Which was why i contacted them in the first place. Let down and worse than not talking to them at all. No stars at all from me.
