When life feels hard to cope with, you want a safe place to explore what's going on for you, a place where you know you'll be listened to and you don't have to pretend that everything's OK. Sometimes you can find this with friends or family, but sometimes that doesn't feel possible or helpful; this is where a counsellor can make a difference.

I offer you that safe place, working within a person-centred relationship; this means that your thoughts, feelings and actions are accepted and not judged, and your independence and autonomy are respected. Each client is a unique individual and so I work differently with each one, depending on your own preferences and what brings you to counselling:.

As well as the above general qualifications, I have also undertaken training in many other specific areas via workshops and continuing professional development, including:. Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy which aims to reduce the risk of recurrent depression for people who have experienced repeated episodes.
I've had a few testing times and managed to get through ok and without letting things escalate so I feel like, for now, I'm ok. The work we have done has had a huge impact and I really can't thank you enough. Just want to say thank you very much for helping change my life for the better. If you'd like an introductory chat before deciding if counselling is for you, I offer this at a nominal fee of 10 for up to 30 minutes. I prefer payment by bank transfer (in advance for first sessions and phone sessions) and I can also accept Paypal. If your employer wants to support you by funding your counselling, I can arrange to invoice them directly; this does not affect confidentiality.
If memories of a past event can bring back the same feelings you felt at the time, and seem to appear even when you don't want them to, these may be traumatic memories for you. Such memories don't behave like ordinary memories and can cause long lasting problems such as feeling overwhelmed at apparently trivial events, or not feeling safe when there seems no present danger.

I visited Caroline for several weeks in early 2020. I found Caroline to be very understanding, a good listener who was able to understand both my emotions and thoughts. I believe that I achieved exactly what I was looking for at a time when I was at a low point in my life. Caroline heard me, understood me and give me a way of reflecting on my thoughts and emotions in a positive manner whilst also giving me a direction for me to pursue....a direction which may help improve my mental health in future times. Don't know how life would of turned out if I hadn't gone to Caroline in Dec '18. Would highly recommend Caroline. For those of you playing with the idea, book in! Caroline is patient, friendly, non judgemental and most of all so kind and wise. One of the best decisions I ever made
