The Maples Medical Centre
The surgery will open its doors again at 4pm, however the phones will remain off until 8am on Thursday 16th (to allow time for further reception training). It could help make sure you see the right person at the right time, or even save you a trip to the Practice! Our team are dedicated to your continued good health and approach your care with professionalism, discretion and friendliness.

You can count on a warm welcome from everyone involved here at the practice. You may find the following link very useful as it contains videos and information leaflets regarding common health/illness problems Choose Well Manchester.
Services
You will be contacted by a GP, who in consultation with you, will decide on the best treatment for you. There will be expectations for people with Learning Difficulties, deaf, Language difficulties and anyone who does not have a telephone. In a few cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor.
Whilst the doctors at the surgery are willing to visit patients who are housebound, they would appreciate other patients making every effort to attend the surgery. Should you require a doctor to visit you at home you should make your request, by contacting the surgery as soon as possible (0161 498 8484).
You do not require a doctor's sickness certificate for any illness lasting seven days or less. If you are sick for more than seven days, your employer can ask you to give them some form of medical evidence to support payment of SSP (statutory sick pay). It is up to your employer to decide whether you are incapable of work.
The emergency service in this area is run by GotoDoc, and is staffed with local GP and nurses from Greater Manchester. GotoDoc offers phone advice, appointments at the GP Centre in Wythenshawe Forum or at Manchester Royal Infirmary, and if necessary, will provide home visits. All details of any out of hours consultations are communicated back to your own GP so that they are aware of the situation.
Please give 48 hours' notice when requesting repeat prescriptions; they can be collected later after 2pm, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays. Post the printout to the practice, with a stamped addressed envelope (please allow plenty of time due to possible delays with the post). You will also need to call into reception for a code to complete the registration for security reasons (you will need to bring in ID for this purpose).

Absolutely disgusted with Maples Medical Centre, called at 08.20 as wanted to speak to a doctor! When I got call back at 9.09 was advised that there was no list today, told the receptionist that I’d just had back surgery and needed to speak to GP, all the receptionist kept saying was “sorry no capacity for list today” advise her that I was disgusted and thought was an absolute disgrace that I couldn’t speak to anyone! Was advised to ring 111 ……why, my first point of call is GP, NOT to call 111 and then more than likely be told to go to A&E. I’m literally speechless that this has happened

Excellent doctors, always get an appointment when I need. Secret to getting one is when they tell you to ring NHS 111 they don’t just tell you that to fob you off it’s because they allocate a certain number of appointments to them to book on your behalf.

For a telephone consultation called at 8am which is the time the phone lines are open yet the put me on the queue for a call back and to tell me that there are no slots available for a consultation after an hour.
I’ve been waiting for my test results for over 4 weeks still no one called me yet to tell me what’s on the result from the surgery

I tried again and again to get an appointment for my sons' covid-19 jab. He should of had the jab long ago but they missed him out. He has ankyolis spondulitus and should of been attended MONTHS ago. I had phoned and phoned to no avail. They should be disgusted with themselves!! The attitude of their receptionists should to called to account. Lives are at stake!!

Lovely reception staff and helped me sort out my prescription at the desk! I am TERRIFIED of needles and have always had a phobia of needles + vaccines and bloods but the young girl that saw me was so professional, friendly and polite and I didn't even feel the needle. Safe to say that I might have overcome my phobia! Thank you A+++++++++

All the staff are great however it is impossible to get an appointment. Have been trying all week. It’s very frustrating and at 6 months post natal with a baby and a toddler I sometimes need access to appointments at short notice.
