It's a far cry from what it is today! Back in 1972, Fred Hancox set up Freds Taxis and within the first 18 months, the taxi fleet had tripled in size. Expansion was Fred's vision and over the coming years, Freds Taxis rebranded to what we know today as Near-N-Far in 1988. This expansion lead to the purchase of our head office and depot at Canalside in Ilkeston in 1994.
