A few times I've been now and a similar experience, friendly staff, nice beers but food is generally way too expensive for what it is. eg ordered 2 ox meat and blue cheese croquettes for £7, what turned up was 2 tiny inch long crispy things, almost one mouthful each. They were not even that tasty 😶
Did get a roast there not too long ago there which was nice!
Still don't accept cash, which is strange 🤷♂️🤷♂️

We had our Christmas party at the Home co
Cottage the other night and couldn't be happier! Food was lovely (not a dry piece of turkey in sight) service was excellent and of course the atmosphere in this pub is wonderful in general. Beautiful place and we all had a great time. Good selection of beers& ciders as well and a few interesting cocktails! Would definitely go again.

Not my favourite pub, fat too pretentious and generally unwelcoming. Nice interior and good selection of craft ales and spirits. Nice outdoor heated seating space. We had the burger which was nice if unremarkable. Plate was sparse with the burger one side and the little tin of fries the other, perhaps a smaller plate would have disguised this better or maybe some slaw or salad? I don't think it's the staff that are the issue (for me) it's 'the regulars' most appear self-important, commuter-loving twits! But that's just me! 😬

What a shame that so much has been spent on renovating this place as a gastropub, but with so little thought to paying for the right staff with the right experience. The food is good in fact brilliant for Redhill but the chef is let down again and again by poor front of house staff and a bizarre billing computer. I have eaten there several times, and the waitress has always got something badly wrong. Tonight the drinks were forgotten, and when I pointed out that the salad was so full of grit that I feared for my teeth, the Spanish head waitress explained huffily that what I had eaten was merely

Impressive! I've been going here for years and can really appreciate the positive changes that the refit has made. Good atmosphere and the food was excellent.
I've tried the sea bass, salt and pepper squid, roast beef and crispy pork belly (not all at the same time) sitting opposite the immaculate open kitchen, I can highly recommend it.
The service was friendly and efficient despite it being a bit hectic.
The garden space and decking is a massive improvement!
But where has the old guy gone who used to in the corner and smile at the fire?

Good pub this, especially if you have to stay in the 'hotel' over the road. Well kept Youngs, good food, which doesn't intrude on drinkers. Quiz on a Thursday is a homely affair, just 4 teams last night, a bit of fun, that's all. I could happily retire into an alcove, read the Times and sup a pint of special or that wonderful chocolate stout, and stay there til the dawn comes up, but they won't let me.
