Ian Wieck Surveying
Early in his Building Surveying career Ian was involved with several projects delivering new housing stock for various Housing Associations, acting as Employer's Agent, which provided a good understanding of various construction techniques including modular build projects which entailed a visit to Denmark to inspect the units in production.

Since starting the practice Ian has built on his extensive experience as a Building Surveyor in project management/contract administration of construction projects, and has been involved in a wide range of projects ranging from a few thousand pounds in value to in excess of 2m for new build, refurbishment, alteration, extension and remedial works projects.
Services
If you are planning works to your property (including extensions, alterations and refurbishments) you will need scale drawings of the property, plans, sections and elevations to allow you to plan your project. In addition scale drawings will be required as part of your Planning Approval and/or Building Regulation submissions.
Over time defects in buildings can arise as the building fabric ages and naturally deteriorates. This process is often made worse by a lack of routine preventative maintenance. Defects can also be found in newly-built properties or in refurbished/extended properties due to poor design, lack of attention to detailing, the selection and use of inappropriate materials, or poor workmanship.
Your project is important to you and you will undoubtedly want to see it completed successfully within your time, cost and quality targets. This requires co-ordination and liaison with all members of the design team, the contractor, and third parties.

As Project Managers we can help you develop your project brief and then select, appoint and coordinate the project team which may include the design team, architect, engineers, acousticians, ecologists, contractors, and others. For most projects we act as Project Managers as well as Designer and Contract Administrator.
If you intend to make alterations to a party wall or build close to an adjoining property on a boundary then you will need to formally notify your neighbour under the Party Wall etc Act 1996. The Party Wall etc. Act 1996 applies to England and Wales and provides a framework for preventing and resolving disputes in relation to party walls, boundary walls and excavations near neighbouring buildings.
The ways in which you use your building and your demand on the space it provides often change over time. In a residential property this might be to accommodate a growing family, for elderly parents moving into a "granny annex", or perhaps you are planning to work from home and need an office space.

My wife and I have had a few surveys done in the past but none as thorough and helpful as Ian's. His high level of expertise is equaled by practical, courteous advise. Ian did a building survey on a four hundred year old listed terraced house and managed to present the many complicated issues in clear, concise English. We highly recommend Ian Wieck Surveyors.

Very happy with our experience of using Ian as our Surveyor; he took the time to understand our (rather complicated) property, and the survey was very detailed. He gave very helpful and speedy verbal advice, and the written report was very detailed and well illustrated with photos. All in all very good. Thanks Ian!

Ian carried out an in-depth & thorough building survey for us during the buying process. He provided both an electronic & hard copy of the report in good time, which was most welcome given the stresses of buying a property. Ian was pleasant to deal with and happy to have a chat about some specific concerns pre-survey. Happy to recommend.

Ian was exceptionally helpful and capable as my Party Wall Surveyor. I do not have a background in construction or the legal side of development, so was confronted with a daunting amount of technical drawings and legal possibilities. Ian was able to clarify everything in layman's terms and provide some immensely helpful suggestions. He really went beyond the call of duty in terms of his advice and support throughout the entire process, which was not always straightforward. In short, I am incredibly grateful that his technical knowledge and attention to detail guided the process and ensured we had

Ian carried out the full structural and drone surveys for us on an old and modified property. He is always quick in response, extremely patient and very professional. He not only presented an expertly detailed report two days after the surveys, but also thoroughly and patiently answered all our questions on the property, with lots of knowledgeable suggestions too. We feel we paid a very reasonable fee for an excellent service, will not hesitate to recommend Ian to anyone.
