I've been a chartered physiotherapist since 2003 and worked as a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with people of all ages within the NHS and private practice for many years. Women's health has been my sole passion for the last 10 years and to help women with obstetric and postnatal related conditions get back on track.
Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) affects up to 1 in 5 pregnant women. PGP can be felt in 1 or more of the 3 pelvic joints, the pubic joint at the front (leading to groin pain) or either of the 2 sacroiliac joints at the back (leading to pain in the bum/hip/top of the leg).
It is usually a result of the increased sensitivity in these joints during pregnancy, the changes in posture that pregnancy brings about and sometimes the general stresses and strains of life!As an experienced clinicians, we can help find the problem areas with a thorough assessment. This involves looking at your posture when standing and lying.

Pregnancy and then bringing a baby into the world is a major physical event for your body to go through, so it makes sense to have a Physiotherapy service dedicated to women after the event. Physio for new mums usually begins with a postnatal MOT. This postnatal check is a must for any woman who has been pregnant, no matter when that was.
Gift a friend or loved one a 1 hour session with a postnatal womens health physiotherapist at our Crouch End clinic. She will have a thorough and dedicated session to assess her physical recovery post pregnancy. A check of the abdominals, pelvic floor, alignment and scar check. She will also receive bespoke advice about her postnatal recovery journey and how to return to any activities she enjoys.
Here are some of the most useful pieces of equipment to help you with your pregnancy or postnatal home program. Your program is specific to you and your particular needs and will be given to you during your session with Maternity Physio. This equipment may not be appropriate for you and everyone is different.

Only positive things to say about my mummy MOT received . Niamh is lovely, clearly knows her stuff and made me feel very comfortable at the start pf my visit and throughout. I walked away knowing exactly the state of my post natal body and what I need to do in order to improve as well. I cannot recommend this enough to anyone who has had a baby!

I went to see Niamh before Pregnancy to help with my overall pelvic health and wellbeing and she has far exceeded my expectations!
She was able to quickly explain what was going on what I needed to do to improve my symptoms. She explained everything in a clear simple way so I can implement my exercises when out and about. I couldn't recommend her more!

I would highly recommend this service to anyone who has had a baby. I had a few niggling issues that were stopping me from feeling quite like myself after pregnancy/childbirth and Niamh helped me with all of them, giving me a personalised exercise plan and - most importantly - reassuring me all would be ok! I felt really respected and listened to and couldn't be happier with the session. (I had one session 6 months after an emergency C-section.)

I went to see Niamh today for a Mummy MOT, which included a full pelvic examination. Niamh was informative, caring and answered all of my questions. She took time to make me feel at ease, talk me through each stage of the check up and shared a follow up email with her recommendations and a recap of what we went over. I am really glad I went as I feel more confident in my body and knowledgeable about it too. I highly recommend all new mums go for a Mummy MOT!

I was referred by my regular osteopath following intense back pain after giving birth. I had pelvic girdle pain during pregnancy but hoped it would just rectify itself as much of google tells you. I didn’t know where to look for a mummy mot so when I was advised of Niamh I was hopeful. The assessment and treatment in the first session was thorough, informative and explained very well. I felt at ease straight away, it felt paced well, not rushed and the ever unwanted internal examination was reassuring more than uncomfortable. I would highly recommend Niamh.
