Thomas Edison's quote from over a century ago forms the basis of Spinal Joint's philosophy on chiropractic and wellbeing. Medicines obviously have a role to play, but wellbeing is determined by overall lifestyle, not by the latest pill created by the pharmaceutical industry. Many people who visit us for the first time have gone down the medicines route.
Their GP prescribed painkillers and rest, and they don't understand why they are continuing to experience pain and are unable to perform normal daily activities. The problem is twofold: painkillers mask the underlying cause of a problem (they can even increase the likelihood of chronicity and osteoarthritis in later life), while sitting for long periods alters spinal posture and reduces joint range of movement, causing more stiffness and pain.

This quote from early 1900s is attributed to Thomas Edison (inventor of the light bulb) and forms the basis of Spinal Joint's philosophy on chiropractic and wellbeing. That is not to say we are at odds with medical treatment, which works well when pathology is present or when emergency intervention is necessary, however wellbeing is determined by lifestyle, not the latest product produced by the pharmaceutical industry.
Traditional chiropractic is not a specific "treatment" for any condition. Chiropractic focuses on the relationship between spinal joint dysfunction ( Vertebral Subluxation), peripheral nerves and the central nervous system. This is important because human physiology has the ability to adapt to any combination of physical, emotional and chemical stress.
MSc, lives in Thames Ditton, Surrey, has four children and has been practicing chiropractic successfully in the area for 25 years. He still plays football every week and has been coaching year five and six football at Thames Ditton Junior School since 2015, this has given him a unique insight into promoting health and wellbeing to this generation of children.
Our aim is to provide high quality chiropractic care to our clients, using established techniques with the highest likelihood of success and least risk. We will see all emergency patients on the day of calling. Your First Visit involves taking a medical history, physical examination. You will be given a report of the examination findings, and a prognosis if you decide to have chiropractic.
Humans have evolved from hunter gatherers and since the 1950s our lifestyle has become increasingly sedentary, especially since computers became so dominant in the work place in the 80s and at home.
PC purchases started to tail off in 2012, replaced with I pads and smart phones, the increase in computer use correlates with the increase in work days lost to back pain in US (264 million), similar to the exponential rise from mid 80s in UK according to Gordon Waddells "The Back Pain Revolution".Our spines have not had time to adapt to this sedentary lifestyle in this minute period of evolution.

The man I was booked to see wasn't registered, was really abrupt in his manner and seemed more interested in ranting about the registry body rather than hearing about my issue. He was rough and abrupt with the small treatment I had, not warming up the tissue first and only stopping when I actually speed in pain. On the plus side he did fit me in early when he realised I was in pain. I'm not sure how they are for other treatments but I would be hesitant to use them for chiropractic.
