We understand that divorce can be a stressful time, but we aim to guide you through the divorce procedure and make it as simple, pain free and cost effective as possible. As Divorce Solicitors we are often asked how much it costs to get divorced, and this actually has a simple answer. If you complete all the paperwork required to get a divorce yourself, then the only payment required is the court fee of 550.
Resolving financial issues between parties runs alongside divorce proceedings. It is important that you seek legal financial divorce advice as soon as possible in relation to finances and divorce. Going through a divorce is often a very emotional time for both parties and reaching a financial settlement can often be the most complicated part of the whole divorce process.
In mediation, parties meet with a mediator to work out the details of their divorce settlement, which could include both financial matters and the living arrangements for their children. However, a mediator will not be able to offer legal advice and make recommendations to the parties about how they should settle their case.
When married couples living overseas separate and decide to get a divorce, there's often doubt as to which Country the Divorce Proceedings should be issued in. It is essential to seek legal advice as soon as possible to ensure that the most suitable jurisdiction is secured for you. The case will be heard in the first court in which proceedings are issued, which can have a dramatic impact on the eventual financial settlement.

From my initial consultation with Paul through to the completion of my divorce, Paul was highly responsive, efficient and easy to work with. I felt confident at all times that he was on top of my case and that no stone would be left unturned. He is also extremely sensitive to cost and very transparent with billing which helped hugely with budgeting. I would highly recommend Prentice Family law.

I would like to extend my thanks to Paul Prentice on getting me through what has been a very long and tiring divorce settlement. Paul's ongoing tireless dedication to my case got us the best result that was needed. He has been amazing and his experience, expertise and care has undoubtedly got me through this most difficult and stressful process. He has been on hand at a moment's notice, during weekends and even whilst away on a family vacation, ensuring I was ok and readily available to deal with pressing matters. I am so grateful and cannot recommend him highly enough. Thank you so much.

While all these reviews are positive, they seem to make reference to Paul. In dealing with this law firm, I did not deal with Paul.
Zara took my case, and I can simply say that I received no legal advice or no proactive effort to progress/resolve the divorce process. It was appalling. She simply processed like an administrative clerk.
I terminated the engagement, and have been delighted with the resolution focused professionalism of the new law firm.

Paul was excellent from start to finish. He supported both personally and professionally. He was very clear with his advice, extremely knowledgeable on the law and highly experienced. I really feel he went above and beyond with his service and direct engagement. He took a very sound and balanced view. His fees were fair and I could not recommend him highly enough.

Paul advised me in connection with my divorce which became final in September 2017. He provided a perfect mix of excellent practical advice alongside dealing efficiently with the formalistic requirements and framework around the divorce processes.
He was always available and his easy going style and reassurance made what is a stressful time, more tolerable.
Where possible Paul offers constructive advice on when and how you can deal with certain practical matters yourself without the need to go through him - that was unexpected and a testament to his attitude to help clients keep down unnecessary

I chose Paul Prentice to represent me and to fight my case in a messy divorce and Financial Dispute Settlement more or less randomly – because his office was the nearest one to my home. I could not have made a better choice if I’d interviewed a hundred Solicitors. Paul was unfailingly helpful and proactive on my behalf. He always gave measured and sensible advice and helped me through an extremely unpleasant couple of years, culminating in a highly successful Family Law Court case (with the help of a Barrister recommended to me by Paul). If I ever find myself in need of a Solicitor again, Paul
