Established in 1897 by John Surtees Gedge, JS Gedge started out by selling push bikes from our Silchester Road shop. Push bikes soon turned into the 1st motorcycles and we have never looked back. John's son David Gedge then joined the family business and sold motorcycles from this branch followed by his son Trevor Gedge the current Managing Director.
The Hastings Honda Centre in Ore village opened in the 1960s followed by the acquisition of the Pevensey Bay branch in the 70s which now sells Honda motorcycles. We have full sales, servicing, clothing and training facilities in all three of our branches.

Services
First established all the way back in 1897 by John Surtees Gedge, we began as a humble cycle manufacturer and seller of Rudge Witworth cycles. We created a small shop, with a friendly atmosphere basing our service around you - the customer. We aimed to exceed expectations, delivering above and beyond for anyone who entered our doors.
Get your bike equipped with some new "shoes" and ready for the ride, whether it's the track or the open road. Your tyres are important when setting the tone for your ride, a good grip is crucial to your safety and confidence on the road. Luckily for you, we're a plus dealer for both Pirelli and Metzeler tyres, so you can get yourself ready to ride with pure confidence, owning the road wherever you ride.
Let's face it, when you jump on your bike, the last thing you want to think about is the cost of maintaining it. That's why we sit down with you and work out how you intend to use your bike, and the amount of mileage you expect to cover. So if your bike is outside of its manufacturer's warranty, we can create a tailored service plan based around the level of servicing you require and to suit your budget.
Stay prepared and ready with our Honda Service Plans, letting you plan ahead for your motorcycle's scheduled services. We've got three available fixed price bands, making it simple and and clear what you need to stay ahead. If you didn't know, we have a fully kitted workshop which is operated by factory trained technicians that give your bike the best possible service, based off of their years of experience.
Here at JS Gedge we have been bike training since 1960 making us the oldest training scheme in England. Subject to a licensing change in 2001, it is now a legal requirement to complete a CBT before you can ride on the road. The CBT - Compulsory Basic Training - is a day course that covers basic theory aspects, and practical aspects within an enclosed safe environment.

Huge shout out to Gavin and Trevor for making my lockdown purchase a complete breeze this week.
I wanted to buy my fiancé a wedding present and tracked down a T100 Triumph in black on their website. Being based in London, I wasn’t able to travel down to St Leonard’s to inspect it in person but it didn’t matter -the next day after my initial… enquiry Gavin went to the effort of sending me across a video which showed close ups of the body work and with the bike running so I could hear the engine. Gavin took care of all of the paperwork for me without even asking and

I bought a Triumoh rocket from them a few years ago. Never a problemwhen thre was a problem, if you know what i mean. Its amazing once you have bought something, that frankly you just become a pain, or often it seems that way. I have found all the staff at their various outlets excellent. Cup of coffe and a smoke always avaiable. Catch the bosses wife in the shop and you might even get a cake or two to go with your coffee! Had a number of issues with my rocket (none worth mentioning now) but Gedge's always did their best, problem sorted, loan bike provided all in all excellent service.stepped

I bought my first scooter from them many years ago and they are still in the same shop as then. Times have moved on and now they sell very expensive motorbikes but they still keep to the old tradition of good service and friendly staff. A large range of motorbikes, scooters and equipment and they still have a small workshop at the rear where the mechanics are always ready to answer your questions and give advice.
