First established in 1894 in Deer Park, Powis Castle, Welshpool Golf Club relocated to Red Bank on the outskirts of the town before finally moving to its current location on the Golfa Hill in 1930. This James Braid designed course is situated just across the border from England into Mid Wales on the A458, 3 miles outside of Welshpool.
The 18 holes that make up this magnificent course, once played won't be forgotten in a hurry. The views are simply spectacular, a panoramic vista of miles of welsh hillside and farmland with the mountains of Snowdonia as a backdrop. The clubhouse offers a guaranteed warm welcome with plenty of room for large societies and home cooked Welsh fare ready for the hungry golfer.

Services
Welshpool Golf Club is a member of the Association of James Braid Golf Courses. This means that Welshpool members can play at the courses of other associated members at a reduced green fee which is equivalent to the members' guest rate of that club. To take advantage of this offer the guidelines in the following link will need to be adhered to.
The Golfa is a hillside course where the landscape provides a remarkable golfing experience. There is never a dull moment during an endless run of unique undulating holes. The fairways afford superb lies leading to excellent greens throughout. The feature hole 12th fairway snakes into the distance several hundred feet below the tee box and then dog legs uphill to the raised green.
Visitors are very welcome at Welshpool Golf Club during the week and at weekends. We have very competitive green fees and offer twilight golf from 2pm as well as special packages for groups of 2 or more (must be pre-booked). Golfers are requested to wear appropriate footwear and a reasonable standard of dress at all times.
Welshpool Golf Club prides itself in its warm and friendly welcome, offering a courteous service with traditional food and drink at affordable prices. On offer we have an extensive menu, often sourced locally, and homemade, ranging from bar snacks, home-baked pastries and breads. There is a set menu as well as a daily specials board.
The Clubhouse and the course are open during daylight hours. The Secretary is volenteering as this job role so please email or ring and someone will get back to you. NB: Bar and catering facilities are not available on Mondays, but visitors are still able to play golf on Mondays throughout the year.

Wow, what an incredible Golf Course, I have never wrote a review but had to for this place. The course itself is stunning with picturesque views and the best greens I have played on in years. The food in the clubhouse was delicious and the Stewards made us feel like we were VIPs, nothing was too much to ask for (we are all fussy) a very warm welcoming club. If I could give more stars I would. Will definitely be back.

Played Welshpool on many occasions over the years. it can be a tough course with some hard walking in parts and punishing lies. When the wind is up, it really is a test of golf.
Recently the club have cut back a lot of the bracken in an effort to make the course more forgiving and draw in more visitors. Hopefully that works because Welshpool is a gem of a course and more golfers should experience it's charm.
Signature holes are the Par 3 14th (Index 1) and the spectacular 18th.
Finally, the views. Check them out yourself - you will not be disappointed.

Even the drive up to the clubhouse is exciting at this place. The setting could not be better - rolling, dramatic green hills in every direction and a course that is as pristine as the views. To top it off, everyone we met (members and staff alike) couldn't have been more friendly. They even found my lost wallet and arranged for it to be returned to me in London. Can't recommend a round here enough.
