Situated in the pretty village of Holyport, set back from the green and overlooking the pond, The Belgian Arms is a favourite with locals and visitors to the area alike. The Belgian Arms is over 200 years old. Prior to the First World War it was known as 'The Eagle'. During the war the prisoner of war camp was at the end of Holyport Street and the Germans used to march past and salute the Eagle.
Many of the local villagers fought in Belgium and therefore it was decided to rename the pub 'The Belgian Arms'. We offer really tasty British food that's beautifully cooked, a great selection of wines and a really good pint. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed and friendly. The Belgian Arms is the ideal spot for meeting up with family and friends, an informal business lunch or dinner and simply having fun.

Services
The menu offers good British food, which is fresh seasonal and prepared using solid cooking techniques. The flavours are clean and the dishes are really tasty. All menus are examples of what you can expect find here at the Belgian Arms, they are subject to change. We change our menus 4 times a year with the seasons.
Our objective is to present wines that most sympathetically reflect the place from which they originate, the character of the vintage and the personality of the growers displaying their passion and pride. At The Belgian Arms value for money is paramount, and with that in mind we hope that we can offer our guests the opportunity to taste something really special, that compliments our menu and offers a quality wine for every pocket.

We visited the Belgian Arms on a Friday evening and had a perfect evening. Pre-arrival communication was fantastic, including comprehensive information on a seating enquiry. The staff were welcoming and friendly, offering a few suggestions when we had food or drink queries. A good menu, plenty of choice without being overwhelming. Every course was really well presented and was really tasty, the expertise of the kitchen staff is super. A live music duo added extra ambience.

I love this place! Wonderful outdoor seating, either on the patio under big umbrellas or on the lawn by the village pond, on wooden picnic tables, in the shade of huge leafy trees and weeping willows! Staff are great. Food is good quality pub food, i.e. great fish n' chips, delicious pork belly roast, sharing platters of crudités for 4, all good wholesome, unpretentious stuff. And a great pint of Guinness!

Nicely tucked away in the old village of Holyport, this is a good local pub with good service and nice food. The meat platter ordered to share was not quite what was expected, but the Sunday roast, both chicken and beef was great.
Child friendly with easy parking on the premises.
They seem to have some local events going on, so do check it out if in the area.

It took ONE HOUR to bring a fish and chips and a Steak and Frittes. The Steak was swimming in butter and I could not eat it because the steak was too "nervy".
The fish was just ok. Large portion.
We also ordered the bread starter but the bread came cold. Service super slow.... even after we ordered the check.
If you want to leisurely spend time with friends, maybe this is your place but I will not be coming back for a meal.
Side note: if you sit outside you can hear airplanes passing by. Not super loud but it takes from the ambience.

Friends invited us here for Sunday lunch last week; they themselves also recently having been recommended this place
Easy to find if you know where it is and don't rely on a satnav that takes you round in a circle! Its to the left of the green as you look at it
Anyway, 3 of us had the Sunday roast beef, the 4th, the roast pork (which had great looking crackling). Yorkshire pud (giant), roast potatoes plus assorted veg already on the plate and a side dish of other veggies, Followed by 2 x Eton mess and I had the cheese - yum with some very peppery thin biccies
All in all, excellent choice

With a picturesque pond and village green framing the Belgian Arms, the pub looks welcoming the moment you see it. As it was a cold December day we got a lovely warm welcome when we entered thanks to the toasty fire. We had a simple lunch of a cheese and ham toast Oe with an egg on top, as well as fish and chips. Both were tasty and done well, the egg on the sandwich a nice touch and the fish batter was soft and light without being too oily and heavy, so that the texture of fish could be enjoyed. We capped our meal of with nice desserts too. A banana and chocolate brownie sundae with whipped cream

Came here on a cold Thursday night and was heartened by the very pretty tree outside the pub bedecked with lights; it boded well for the evening. Sadly that tree was the most impressive part of the night.
We were led to our table quickly and efficiently. I had the ham hock scotch egg to start which was okay, nothing spectacular followed by the fillet steak which was frankly boring and unremarkable in every way. The chips were dry and overcooked. Others in the group had the monkfish and hake and were similarly disappointed.
Part of the deal was if you ordered two steaks you got a free bottle of

This place was recommended to us by the concierge at our hotel. The food was excellent. I was only slightly disappointed that my apple and walnut pie didn't have more apples. But, otherwise, the food was excellent. They change specials everyday. We enjoyed mussels, pork rump and a beef ale pie. :) very cozy place. I would also recommend calling ahead.

Excellent. Wednesday lunchtime and the car park was full which is very reassuring. The staff were lovely, very attentive and professional. I would recommend this pub to anyone. Very reasonably priced. It was raining today but the garden looked really nice and I will try and get back on a sunny day to have lunch by the river underneath the lovely Weeping Willow trees.
The side order of bread was very generous. Symond's cider on tap but sad to see magners as the only bottled cider.
I had the scampi followed by the lamb, both of which were extremely high quality and absolutely delicious

Whoever likes a public house that is open all day, every day, serves 'Oxford Gold' (a favourite tipple of mine), stages 'comedy nights', hosts barbecues (see website) and has a delightful location in the country will not be disappointed here.
The Belgian Arms is on the A330 in the village of Holyport, which is not even 10 minutes drive from Maidenhead and has no connection with any of the diverse attributes of Belgium such as mussels, chocolate, lace or kamikaze motorists. Once called 'The Eagle', its name was changed when, during the First World

Four of us went for a meal on the 6th October 2010. The starters were a disappointment, especially the mushrooms on toast, which were plain and dry with no sauce or seasoning. My husband and his friend had the Steak and Kidney puddings. My husband took one mouthful and could not eat his, while his friend ate a couple of mouthfuls before declaring it inedible. My friend had the fish pie, which was watery and tasteless. I had the duck, which was adequate, but served with a small dollop of plain cabbage and 3 soggy pale roast potatoes. We told the manager how disappointing the meal had been. He called

Not a patch on how it used to be in the good old days of this pub.
What used to be the best watering hole for miles around - with proper characters on both sides of the bar - is now an identikit village gastropub with as much charm as a cold kebab.
The real ale mentioned in another review is kept in a cellar that is WAY too cold and on the occasion I visited, and brought this point up with the manager, he seemed unaware of the fact that different beers require different cellar temperatures. Serving quality bitter at the same temperature as Guinness Extra Cold is unforgiveable - but he said
