A trio of beautifully renovated, Grade II listed, Cornish cottages - believed to be the only row of 'pre-railway age' dwellings in Cornwall which are open to the public. Trenance Cottages are a unique trio of renovated Cornish cottages and the result of Newquay's biggest ever community-led restoration project.
Now standing proud in the Trenance Valley, Rose, Middle and Vine Cottage are beautifully renovated, Grade II listed cottages. The cottages are open to the public and include a heritage museum, a function room, The Garden tearoom, an ice-cream outlet and Babel Fish Language School. Thus, fulfilling the ambition of the volunteers to restore the historic site to its former glory and provide a heritage resource for all the community.

Services
There isn't a row of Cornish cottages like ours anywhere in Cornwall that's open to the public - that's why Trenance Cottages are so important. They're also important because they're among very few remaining properties left in Newquay from the period before the passenger railway came in 1876. They're certainly as significant as the Huers' Hut on the Headland.
The cottages are owned by Trenance Cottages Newquay, a registered charity (1134308) who were established in 2009. Over the years, the charity has lovingly restored, and managed the cottages for the benefit of the community.
A piece of Newquay's past is now preserved and protected for years to come, thanks to the hardworking voluntary trustees and our army of volunteers, who all strive to ensure the Cottages are 'kept alive' and continue to provide a resource for the local community and visitors to enjoy.

Behind the scenes, Trenance Cottages is run and maintained by a committee of hard working voluntary trustees who strive to ensure the Cottages are 'kept alive' and provide a resource for the local community and visitors to enjoy. Each trustee has a wealth of experience and expertise in areas such as fundraising, education, business management.
Trenance Cottages Newquay are always looking for new volunteers to join our growing band of helpers. If you have time on your hands, enjoy meeting new people, and care about Newquay's heritage, please do get in touch. We welcome people of all ages and support volunteering opportunities for short-, medium- and long-term commitments.
As a registered charity, we are always looking for the support of individuals, organisations and businesses to help keep the cottages alive. We have put together a range of sponsorship packages that we believe offer great value to our sponsors and enhances the work we are able to complete on site to preserve, protect, and improve the site for the future.

The museum in Trenance Heritage Cottages was the purpose of my visit. It is an ethnographic museum which interprets the lives of the people who used to live there. The curators of the museum have collected artefacts from earlier times and present them skilfully as room layouts, a meal on the table, bedrooms with linen and even two Cornish pasties in the oven!
