Downe Cottages have a modern and spacious Spa & Gym available for guests' use during their stay at no extra cost. Downe Cottages are located on the Hartland Peninsula within the stunning North Devon Coast Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From long lunches to long walks and from stately homes to surfing lessons, our guides will help you make the most of your time at Downe.
The Peninsula is the perfect place to take a step away from the hustle and bustle of the 21st century. All around are cliff top walks and the quiet seclusion of undisturbed countryside framed by the Atlantic Ocean. It is a beautiful and, even in the height of summer, a deserted sanctuary. One of Downe's hidden virtues is that, although it is beautifully located in a idyllic rural retreat, there is so much to do during a visit to Downe.
Twelve miles after Bideford, and immediately after the roundabout at Clovelly Cross, turn right on the B3248 to Hartland. Half a mile out of Hartland take the first right (immediately before Hartland Abbey) which is signposted towards Berry. Follow this single-track road over a little stone bridge, up a steep hill and then round a sharp right hand bend.

Quiet and peaceful with beautiful sunsets. Cottages comfy and cosy although some furnishings were looking a bit tired.

Just perfect! Quiet and very comfortable in a stunning location. Very friendly and kind couple who run it and are more then happy to accommodate anything their guests need. Would highly recommend and will most certainly be returning!

Staying at Downe is the perfect antidote to the stresses of modern living. Located in this relatively quiet corner of Devon, the location boasts some magnificent coastlines and there are plenty of activities nearby for adults and young children.
The owners, Jeremy and Lynda, provide a warm welcome, and are on hand to provide plenty of advice about the locality if required. Indeed, they provide a "book of the cottage" with a detailed set of recommendations which is very useful. Their attention to detail in every aspect of running the facility is exceptional.
The cottages themselves are very well

We have recently returned from a weeks holiday at Downe Cottages, ours was called Honeysuckle Cottage, a one bedroomed cosy cottage beautifully appointed and immaculately clean. A warm welcome on a cold March afternoon greeted us, log fire lit, central heating on, a bottle of wine and box of chocolates were on a tray set for tea. Alan and Clare the Cottage Managers were extremely helpful when we needed any kind of assistance. Thank you Jeremy and wife for making this establishment one that we would dearly love to return to with friends. Regards John and Suzie. 6-13 March 2015
