They don't bond to tooth structure like white fillings, more healthy tooth structure must be removed to mechanically lock them into your tooth. They creep (expand pitch and grow bigger) as they get older as they're not dimentionally stable. This causes cracking both internally and externally which leads to leakage and secondary decay (see below).
Root Canal Treatment, is a routine dental procedure which is necessary when the inner core of a tooth (pulp) becomes infected by bacteria or losses it's blood supply due to trauma. The tooth pulp can become infected by bacteria through decay or gum disease. Infection that spreads throughout the root system of the tooth and into the bone causes an abscess.
Surgical extractions involve incising the surrounding gum tissue, removal of bone and/or sectioning the tooth. Sutures are always necessary with surgical extractions. They can be either partial or full and can replace a few or many missing teeth, up to a complete arch. Dentures are the simplest and most economical way of replacing missing teeth. They can be made as an all acrylic or combined acrylic with a metal base. Sometimes retention clasps are necessary to help keep the appliance in place.
