Sarah has been here at Wrights as qualified Dispensing Optician and contact lens optician (and of course the boss, sometimes), for 27 years. Sarah is the only daughter of Mr and Mrs Wright who were the original owners. She took over from 'Mrs W' when she retired many years hence and is still passionate about optics and patient service.
It is so important to have a routine eye examination at regular intervals, even if your vision if fine, because we examine much more than just your visual prescription. Assessment of your ocular health can detect conditions which affect your whole body - such as diabetes, high blood pressure, hypertension, kidney problems and some types of cancer.
The very latest in clinical eye-care, an Optical Coherance Tomographer (or 3D retinal scanner to you and me!), allows our opticians to see into the very complex and important layers of your retina ( the very back layers of your eye). Without OCT scanning, it is simply impossible to see all the structures of your eye, to know whether there may be hidden issues in your retina.
The materials available let much more oxygen through to the eyes surface, so the eye stays healthier and you can wear your lenses for longer. They also stay wetter for longer, with many lenses having surface treatments to ensure day long comfort on the eye.
Although soft lens materials are now by far the most popular type - because they are so comfortable - we can still fit existing or new wearers with RGP (rigid gas permeable) lenses, which have some advantages.All contact lenses at Wrights Opticians are available through a standing order payment scheme to help you to spread the cost.

Wrights Opticians have paired-up with National award-winning Bloom Hearing Specialists, to bring you the very best of the best in hearing aids and hearing examinations. Fully qualified Audiologist Raj, performs all our hearing examinations here at the practice on Chapel Brow, or in your own home if you'd prefer.
