Pinhay House
At Pinhay House, our aim is to provide 'your home from home by the sea'. We encourage you to bring your own furniture with you when you join us, together with your small pet. Pinhay House has a fascinating history; it features prominently in the 1980s film 'The French Lieutenant's Woman', starring Meryl Streep and Jeremy Irons. Are we the only care home that has ever starred in a Hollywood movie?
Services
Pinhay House has been run by the husband and wife team of Robin and Carole Hodges since we first welcomed residents in 1988. In a world where some care homes are owned by "Private Equity Funds" and "Big Business", we aim to keep the family-run ethos and feel of a small, caring concern. This is how we believe in running a home, and the way that our residents and their families like it best.
We aim to provide an unparalleled level of care to all our residents, who continue to enjoy a fulfilling and varied life. We are proud of our lovely house, the dedication of our staff and the high quality of care that we provide. The Care Quality Commission regularly monitors Pinhay's performance, and reports on us independently.
We offer full residential care for people who have dementia. At Pinhay House we take a person-centred approach, as the impact of dementia on each individual's life is subtly different. We believe it is possible to continue to live well with dementia. At Pinhay we give residents a measure of independence, through helping with everyday tasks and involvement in our activities' programme.
Our approach to residential care is simple. We aim to improve the quality of life for all our residents by making Pinhay House their 'home from home by the sea'.The bedrooms at Pinhay are lovely. All have high ceilings and retain a number of original Victorian features. South facing rooms have breathtaking views across Lyme Bay, and all are decorated to a high standard.
At Pinhay House, we understand the benefits that a short break can bring. We often have residents staying with us for a short space of time - sometimes just for an overnight stay, sometimes for a few weeks or longer. Respite care is a good way of 'testing the water' of staying in a residential home, and we find that quite a number of our respite care residents subsequently come to live at Pinhay on a long-term basis.
