At St Mary's we strive to deliver a high-quality history education that will help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain's past and that of the wider world. It should inspire pupils' curiosity to know more about the past. Teaching should equip pupils to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement.
History helps pupils to understand the complexity of people's lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time. School will be open for the children of Key Workers and for pupils who are deemed vulnerable.

Services
School will be open for the children of Key Workers and for pupils who are deemed vulnerable. All pupils will be provided with work in order for them to keep learning. Tonight's announcement was very short notice for you as parents and also for us as a Staff. Tomorrow, by 11am there will be three tasks on the school website for each Class to complete as their Tuesday learning.
If you are thinking of applying for a place for your child at age 4 please check our admission policy (left) for further details. Although we think our website tells you a lot about our school there is nothing better than coming to see us for real and watching our staff and children at work - we are sure you will be impressed.
The DfE reinforce the need "to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs." Each year the children in each class decide upon their class rules and the rights associated with these.
Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play in safeguarding them. At St Mary's RC Primary School, we take this role seriously and recognise the contribution we can make to protect and support our children and their families. All the staff receive regular annual training around safeguarding and child protection matters.
At St Mary's we value all children equally and do our utmost to welcome everyone into our school by ensuring that we have a fully accessible and appropriate environment and curriculum for all our pupils and parents/carers - regardless of any particular need that they have.
Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator is Mrs Claire Ashton, she looks after the school's policy and also checks that all children identified as needing additional support are catered for well.Mrs Ashton is also a specialist teacher for children with SEND and provides tuition for our pupils with additional educational needs.
