The purpose of a mortgage valuation is to satisfy the lender that the property is safe to lend on, and up to what amount. It tells you little about the building's state of repair. This is why it's vital to arrange an independent home survey before entering into a contract to buy a home. A survey will give you a clear picture of the property's condition.

Massively undervalued our home, extremely unprofessional and rude surveyor attended our home and simply had absolutely no idea what they were doing (I’ve worked with surveyors for years). I will certainly be complaining! How such a reputable organisation such as Nationwide use such an appalling company I’ve no idea!

I hope you don't get this company to do a valuation on your property, they'll probably outsource it and get inexperienced surveyors to come out who don't do their research. Our surveyor has made accusations that o pressured to be in and out of my property ASAP but when I asked him if he wanted to inspect the garage which has been converted into a room, Tom, declined.... not sure how I pressured him when I'm offering him my time. End result is my property was down valued by 17k and other properties around me that are very similar and some that are not but smaller have been sold 30k more than mine

We did not have a good experience having our house surveyed by SDL Surveying. The first issue that we had was:
- They did not turn up on the date originally agreed. They did not inform us that they wouldn't be coming, nor did they inform our buyers who had paid for the survey. It was only when we rang after the 2 hour window had expired that we found out that the surveyor would not be coming.
After rescheduling, the issues we had with the actual survey were that it contained clearly incorrect information:
- It stated we had 'harmful moss' and a large number of cracked tiles on our main roof
