Services
If you enjoy staying in places that are that little bit different then you've found the perfect spot. This Victorian house has real character and a chequered history. Of the surviving nineteenth century buildings in Magherafelt, this is one of the most recognizable and interesting. It has featured in the European Heritage Open Days scheme and is regarded as one of the landmark buildings of Magherafelt.
Situated in Magherafelt Town Centre, we are just 100 yards from the Terrace Hotel Magherafelt and 200 yards from Mid Ulster Council's Bridewell Tourist Information Centre. We are within walking distance of all Magherafelt amenities - everything is at your doorstep! We are ideally located for a visit to Seamus Heaney Home Place centre in Bellaghy, just a ten minute drive away.
You may provide these by email, though for security considerations we would recommend that you do so by telephone. Or we can phone you if you prefer. Payment is due on departure and can be made by debit card, credit card or cash. Our preference is for payment by debit card. The debit/credit card used to make the reservation will be charged in the event of cancellation within 2 days of arrival date.
A tour through County Derry, whose landscape inspired many of the poet's best-known works. Passing Laurel Villa, you'd never suspect it was a Tardis. You have to enter this modestly proportioned house on the outskirts of the County Derry town of Magherafelt to taste its magic. Your first impression is of a beautifully kept B&B.
Beautifully decorated, warm and comfy, with art and poetry in every one, you can take your pick of which might best feed your soul. With hospitality such as this, and knowledge and passion to back it up, I am not surprised that Heaney gave a poetry reading here not so long ago. He always has a great instinct for the real thing when he sees it.

The afternoon tea box, which my sister received on her birthday and shared with me, was one of the most delicious and ample meals imaginable. We are vegetarian, so we are accustomed to finding menus in restaurants, etc. extremely limited in variety and flavour, but Gerardine can make an egg and onion sandwich gourmet. That box was crammed with flavours, both savoury and sweet, and textures to match. Phenomenal! Everyone should experience the afternoon tea box at least once.
Loved it.

I ordered an afternoon tea to be delivered to my parents to help my mum celebrate her birthday during Covid lockdown. My parents were absolutely delighted and said it was an absolutely delicious afternoon tea! It was delivered, perfectly on time, beautifully presented in a box. There were more than enough goodies to satisfy them, with some left over for later! Mum says she would highly recommend to anyone and it has made her birthday a bit special in these strange times. Many thanks indeed to Geraldine at Laurel Villa. Denise

It is MASSIVE and apart from the 'Full Irish' includes freshly made scones...wowswer! The villa is perfectly situated for exploring this green and mysterious island and your convivial hosts Gerardine and Eugene will be only too happy to advise you on all matters local and or historical.

Wonderful place to stay. The Villa is very charming. The owners are friendly and very helpful with local genealogy research. They led us to new family history and to the location of a 2nd great grandfather's home in the 1800's. Amazing!
