We rely heavily on local office trade. With everyone still working from home we have made the difficult decision to temporarily reduce our days of business. The Admiral is an iconic traditional bar with a modern twist. Our public bar makes a great setting for catching up with friends, colleagues and family alike.
When you enter you are met with original tiles and eye catching stained glass whilst our basement venue has a far more modern, minimal vibe. With a friendly laid-back vibe, comforting food menu, and extensive drinks list were a versatile venue with something for everyone.

Family Doo downstairs in the lounge. Music loud, stairs a wee bit steep for old bones! Plastic tumblers and tiny spirit measures, however, great company, brilliant having a get together with all the family . I will say the buffet was outstanding, staff brought it out on plates and trays to every table. Piping hot pizza, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, pakora, sandwiches and plenty of it. Had to leave at 10pm as had an under 18 year old, bur certainly good time had by all.

This is a cool, possibly underrated pub that serves good food (try the pizza) and great beer. They have a good sized bar and loads of seating upstairs with TVs and free WiFi. Being where it is means it's rarely totally packed which is a bonus in my book.
Downstairs there's a gig space with a stage. I think they have live music fairly regularly but it's also the location for most of the talks that are run by the Glasgow Skeptics group on Monday nights - so if you fancy something a bit different then look them up.
Otherwise, just enjoy hanging out in a real pub with a little character

Couldn't ask anymore from this place, really amazing, pizza is some of the best I've had and it's got a great atmosphere both day and night. Staff also know their regulars which I love and makes you feel comfortable and at ease when you're in there. Fireball/cracker fries were something they did for a long time (chips, the cheese sauce from macaroni and jalapeños) which were my favourite things in the whole planet. When I went back to once again have them I was gutted to find out they had stopped selling them, however the manager went into the kitchen and got the chef to rustle

My pizza odyssey continued last week with a trip to The Admiral. I had head good things from colleagues so I needed to see how it would fare against the likes of Bloc+ and Paesano.
We popped in on a Thursday night to grab a 2-4-1 pizza and were surprised to see how big it is. The place was pretty busy for a Thursday night, but we were able to find a nice little booth at the back, away from the hubbub at the bar. The football was on, so it was a little rowdier than other places I have been to recently, but it was no biggie.
The menu offers the usual burgers/pizzas, but they have taken the move

Went out for the end of month lunch with my pals J & D. Went usually come here so this review is from more than one trip.
The bogof on pizzas is great, and they don't hold back the quality.
I get the Bronson pizza whenever i go Absolute delight. Great pizza with the right amount of toppings. I have had most of the pizzas off the menu, and can say this is my favourite!
J had the goats cheese pizza and she loved it, said it was the best GC pizza she's had in Glasgow, so that's and compliment. As always, it's included in the bogof deal.
D had the Philly cheese steak

I'm pretty lucky to work smack bang in the middle of the financial district of Glasgow, as it means I'm never short of somewhere to go if I fancy a sit down lunch with my team. The Admiral has the feel of an old man pub, with the clientele of a generally much younger work crowd but it's always pretty busy, down in part to the sports they play and the reasonable-for-city-centre prices.
Even though we hadn't booked, we were able to get a table with no waiting time - despite a particularly busy lunchtime - and quickly ordered our food. Given that we were eating over a work lunch

Some good meal deals to be had (2 x pizza + 2 x drinks = £10 on a Tuesday).
Amstel Beer, Stella and San Miguel on tap, although the general beer prices seem to be 20p-30p more than elsewhere in the area.
It has 6 person booths at the back of the pub with individual tv's so you can watch a variety of sports channels (sound is muted).
Overall a good pub for a night out.

In here on April 3rd as part of the Hinterland festival. Always amazes me the number of pubs in Glasgow that have made excellent use of their extra cellar space or original function rooms by kitting them out as good music venues. The acoustics here were ideal and the viewing angles good from most of the spectator space.

The Admiral has gained a reputation over the past couple of years for hosting hip club nights and some slightly more obscure touring and local bands.
"YEAH, MAN! The ADMIRAL IS AMAZING!"
It really isn't that great. It's okay.
Upstairs is basically just an old boys pub. It has a great atmosphere if you want to come and watch a Scotland match. The long and narrowish entrance to the larger back area can become packed with people ends up becomming a bit of a nuisance too be honest.
There's nothing dreadful about it but put it this way, The Admiral is the closest pub for

The Admiral appears to be just your average old man pub, with wooden flooring, bar stools and old fashioned booths for drinking away the evening with some old chums. The prices are reasonable and it's quite a cosy, comfortable pub for a quiet pint.
Downstairs is quite a different story, with a dark and dingy atmosphere, illuminated by a projector splashing images onto the wall. Various club nights run here over the months, including its most famous monthly event: Melting Pot, which is a mish mash of funk, disco and house music.

While I enjoy the fact that The Admiral is a little distanced from the usual raucous of Sauchiehall Street on a Saturday night, my experience there was legitimately sub-par.
Firstly, the low ceilings and use of smoke machines, paired with sweaty, off-their-face clubbers is a recipe for disaster. Drinks are more expensive than a number of night clubs, which explains the ease with which you can make it to the beer-soaked bar, but not the level of drunkennes contained within the place.
Since dance and trance is not my thing, I can't judge based solely on my own tastes; however, even by its

Great bar in the city centre with lovely food which is reasonably priced with 2 for 1 offers on pizza being a good deal. Has a quiz night on a Tuesday which is fun and is a good place to watch football as it has individual TVs in the booths at the back of the bar.
There is nice function form downstairs which can be hired out and is also where some club nights are held.
