Royal West Norfolk Golf Club (Brancaster) is an outstanding links course set on the North Norfolk coast. With the North Sea on one side and the saltmarsh on the other it has a wonderfully atmospheric setting, and is ranked 61st in the World (for courses you can play) and 17th in England by Golf World.
Services
Royal West Norfolk Golf Club (or 'Brancaster', as it is often referred to) was founded in 1892, and the course laid out by Mr Holcombe Ingleby. There has been little alteration to Ingleby's design, and many of the original holes are still played today. The Clubhouse is not accessible by car when the tide is high, and both the 8th and 9th holes are affected by the tides (see times).
This, together with the fact that only two-balls are allowed, keeps the speed of play up, with most rounds being completed in three hours. This should mean that you have enough time to visit the excellently stocked Pro Shop and discover the friendly welcome at the traditional clubhouse, serving wines, cask ales and a good selection of home-cooked food.
Foursomes play is the format of choice of our members and we encourage visitors to do the same. Brancaster is a two ball course for singles and foursome play only, the Green Fee for foursomes play has been priced accordingly. Playing singles will still be possible, but at a premium. Buggies are available for hire, but only for individuals who would genuinely have difficulty getting round the course without one.
Andrew and his team have a competitively priced, well-stocked shop, which is open to members and non-members alike. The shop stocks most major brands of equipment in addition to Club crested clothing and giftware. It is also an accredited service centre for Powakaddy trollies. Custom fitting is available from a wide range of Golf Club Manufacturers including Callaway and Ping, amongst others.

Wonderful links course but a strange place to visit. We (a group of low handicappers) were forced to play in two balls only and more bizarrely to wear full length long socks on a 27° day. If I'm paying £110 for a round of golf I'd like to play with friends and tan my legs if I feel like it please. People wonder why young people are not taking up the game. Well, silly rules like this can't help. Additionally, when I asked for a basket of 25 balls to warm up with, I was asked for £1.50! Elite courses will always comp' these, so it felt grubby given the high green fee. Nearby, Hunstanton, Sheringham

Now this place is amazing. Everything about it is special. You must arrive before the tide rises and blocks your entry. The course is in great condition. I love the fact you cross the beach to get to the first tee. Stunning views and amazing bunkers. Lunch was served upstairs which gave us an amazing view of the beach. The food was excellent. Staff more than welcoming. Can't wait to return
