In the 1890's and early 1900's, pioneering meteorologists raised the funds to built a weather observatory on the summit of Ben Nevis, and also a new home for the Observatory Superintendent. Glentower was where the telegraph signals came in from the summit and were transmitted to Liverpool and other main shipping ports, where warnings for gales were provided for ship owners and skippers.

Lovely B&B, great hosts, decent breakfast accommodating everyone's requests. Very handy for Fort William on foot, and the stunning, surrounding area. Our room was very nice, separate single beds for the kids which is always a bonus. 4 piece bathroom very stylish.
The friendly hosts were also happy to pass on their knowledge of good places to eat, see the local wildlife and other useful information.
I would very happily stay there again.
Only slight negative is that it is not perhaps the cheapest.

Everything was fine to be honest but it just doesn't quite justify the cost we paid for it. Fantastic bathroom though! Nothing particularly wrong it was just quite expensive, I would still recommend staying there and lovely hosts.

Trevor and Catriona were fantastic hosts. The B&B was very clean and tidy, the breakfasts had everything you could hope for (including haggis and black pudding in the full Scottish option) and the rooms were very nicely decorated. We had a huge bathtub as well. Would happily come back here!

Lovely cosy rooms and in an ideal location- 5 minutes walk away from bars, restaurants and the town. Stunning view right on the loch and Trevor was really lovely and friendly - even dug out a set of scales for us which was probably a request he wasn't expecting!
Lovely breakfast and lovely staff. Really enjoyed our stay in Fort William :)

The question of why it was excellent? The room was spacious, beautiful, super clean, the beds were comfy and the bathroom was Wow!
We had a bay window to see the mists sitting on the water while drinking tea. The breakfasts were super tasty and set us up for the day and the takeaway breakfast for our day trip was so very thoughtful. The hosts are extremely friendly and special people and it was our favorite hotel in Scotland on our trip. Feel very blessed to have stayed there.
