Welcome to Puttenham Golf Club, one of the oldest and finest golf clubs in the South East of England. Puttenham was formed in 1894 by a group of Army Officers, Charterhouse School Masters and local businessmen. Whether it was a strategic military decision or just luck they chose well when deciding to build it on land that drained well naturally.
Puttenham is proud of its reputation as a one of the friendliest clubs around, and our picturesque 18 hole tree lined course will provide a challenge to any golfer. Nestling in the foothills of the Hogs Back just off the A31 in Surrey, Puttenham Golf Club is only 10 minutes' drive from the centres of Guildford, Farnham and Godalming.

The fact that General Marshall was a special favourite of Queen Victoria at the time probably helped sway his judgement and, thus, Puttenham Golf Club was born, with the General quickly established as President. Puttenham Golf Club can therefore make some small claim to Royal connections.
Puttenham's first Captain, Major Howard Fairtlough, the Club Professional Albert Howlett and the Committee were responsible for laying out the original nine holes which measured just 2,413 yards with a "bogey" of 39.Having bought the freehold to the Club from the Smallpieces in 1981, the opportunity arose the following year to buy a further 44 acres of land adjacent to the course, known as Monk Grove Copse.

You can't beat a cup of tea or hot soup and maybe a piece of cake mid-round of a game of golf. If you're playing poorly, the halfway hut offers a chance to re-group and re-charge the batteries. Even if you're on your game, no harm in taking the time to relax and focus. At Puttenham Golf Club the halfway hut, situated in stunning woodland between the 9th green and 10th tee is enjoyed by many.
There is a full calendar of Seniors Interclub Matches throughout the year at Puttenham Golf Club open to any full member aged 55 or over. We compete against many other clubs in our local area both home and away and the matches provide a great opportunity to play some matchplay golf in a team environment and to visit and play other courses.
There is a very active Ladies section at Puttenham Golf Club and their main competition day is Tuesday when the 1st tee is reserved for ladies only from 8.00am until 10.30am. For the working ladies amongst our membership who can play predominantly only at weekends they usually play their competitions on Sundays at 10.00am.
Puttenham Golf Club nurtures and motivates its junior members helping them to enjoy the sport, gain a handicap when ready, and then to enter internal as well as external competitions. Puttenham very kindly stepped in when the last day of our golf holiday in Devon was cancelled due to rain. They offered a suitable time and we could not have been more delighted. Despite covid restrictions from the moment we arrived and I checked us in to the moment we left the bar in the evening every member of staff was cheerful and helpful. We started on time had great experience on beautiful course including a pre order half way hut and enjoyed our social time in the bar afterwards.
In these heavily regulated times my tip to any group organiser would be to research the restrictions , speak

The course is good but as a society group we not made welcome. We were made to stay in our cars antil our tee off, then when we had finished we had to change our shoe's before going in the bar inspite of the members not doing so.Also we had a time limit for having a drink which ment the last tee had very little time to have a drink. If you don't want society there just say so, we won't be back!!
