Southdown Nursery
Large, secure outdoor environment, with sensory garden and vegetable patch, for discovery and play. We are absolutely loving our newly completed outside classroom. Many thanks to Nick Jones for designing it, Will Power for the first stage build. Clive from The Budding Foundation for his donation, the Taylor family for the donation of the decking, Coop for our community funding and for Jamie's Gardens for putting together our vision.

Due to staff shortage nursery is only open to key worker and vulnerable children until further notice. In the event of nursery closure due to government restrictions enforcing schools and Early Years settings to close we will open for vulnerable children and children of key workers only (upon receipt of written evidence).
Services
Vegetable garden where children can experience firsthand what it's like to grow their own produce and eat it afterwards. Our beautiful garden is a great setting for the summer fair every year, when we have stalls, games and activities for families to enjoy. We are located in the heart of Steyning on Jarvis Lane, only a five-minute walk from the high street.
Forest School is a philosophy - a way of working in an outdoor environment that helps build children's self esteem, confidence, independence, creativity and knowledge of the natural environment. Amanda is our Forest School Leader and runs sessions with the older children on a regular basis (at least once a week for 6 weeks).
A snack will be provided for children but please packed lunches as normal Please remember Friday the 11th is the last day of term. Sports Relief - Please dress your child in sports gear for a communal run around the garden. Nativity< The photographer Nicky Allen attended the Wednesday performance and below are some of the beautiful images she took.
Contact 01903 814581 or email info@southdownnursery.co.uk to book a visit or find out more. We operate a 'free flow' system at Southdown, through which the children gain independence by making their own choices about what activities and experiences they would like to be involved in.

9.15 - 9.30am: Children arrive and are settled in an independent activity of their choice or with an adult led activity either in the main room, in the green/craft room or on the playground.Rolling snack and drink time started with the children helping to prepare, four children at a time at the table.
How does the early years setting know if children need extra help and what should I do if I think my child may have special educational needs or disabilities? The staff are hugely supportive especially with regards to SEN and ensuring the nursery is inclusive. This could be by sign posting parents to talk to their child's Health visitor, doctor or a specialist in the field.
