As one of the few independent, family Funeral Directors remaining John Grenfell & Son attend to families in Bedlington, Ashington, Blyth and Morpeth areas. John Grenfell & Son are not associated with Peter Grenfell Funerals.

Golden Charter, Britain's leading funeral plan provider, has awarded John Grenfell & Son based in Bedlington, the title of Funeral Planner of the Year Regional Award for its dedication and commitment in providing an outstanding service to their local community.
In most cases, registering a death should take place prior to the funeral, and is carried out by a relative. If no relative is available then the duty may be performed by any person present at the death, the occupier of the premises where the death took place, or the person who is accepting responsibility for arranging the funeral.
You will need to consider initially where the funeral service is to be held i.e.
Church or Cemetery Chapel prior to interment, or simply at the graveside, whether the service is to be religious or non-religious, any hymns and/or music required, whether family flowers only are desired and donations, in lieu, for a chosen charity, which cemetery or churchyard the interment is to take place in and whether an existing grave is available or a new grave is required.

When it comes to funerals, so much of the protocol of days gone by has been swept away, which means that opportunities now exist to make the arrangements truly unique. That's why we offer completely bespoke funeral services. In addition to the more familiar choices, such as between burial and cremation, you now have the option to personalise other elements of the arrangements.

My mother was collected in the early hours from her care home. I visited her every day in the chapel of rest.
I was always treated politely and with respect by all staff and kept up to date with all planning and potential problems from step family.
All problems and arrangement's were managed well.
Many thanks to John Grenfell and Sons for delivering a quality service at a very sad time.

The best known funeral directors in Bedlington, Grenfell & sons is located at the top west end of Bedlington Front Street, close to the Red Lion roundabout. The building has a dignified and regal looking facade with an area for family and friends of the deceased to sit inside and have refreshments.
I find that the staff are very professional and treat people with respect in a polite manner. They will ascertain every detail of the funeral requirements. I recently used Grenfell when a family member passed away and have to say that they made the experience so much easier for me by taking on
