Accepting that you or a loved one has an addiction is a huge step towards healing and positive change, next comes professional support and confidential therapy. My name is Victoria Abadi, I'm a qualified therapist and over the last 23 years I've helped people overcome addictions through behavioural and cognitive therapies.
An addiction is an illness that feeds off denial and inaction, left unchecked; addictive behaviour can be devastating. Professional therapy offers an opportunity to talk openly about your thoughts and feelings and understand the effect they have on your attitude and mood. Despite how it may feel, you're in control of how you recover from your addiction and it's up to you to begin the process of change.

Services
Choosing a therapist can be a daunting task, you'll have to trust me with personal feelings and share your thoughts and pains openly. My aim is to make the experience of seeking and using addiction therapy as easy and stress-free as possible, so to help you on your journey - before we talk about you, here's a little about me.
Treatment can involve cognitive and behavioural therapies, including the 12 step programme, and it doesn't have go on your medical records. I usually start therapy by encouraging you to think about how you want to change. Then I'll help you work out where your feelings and ideas are coming from and together we'll notice any patterns that may be encouraging addictive behaviour.
Therapy can help you to understand and explain addictive behaviour, the reasons behind it and how it affects your daily life. Most importantly, counselling gives you an opportunity to talk openly about your thoughts and feelings with an experienced therapist. You can speak in complete confidentiality in a safe and reflective space, with no judgement and nothing you say will shock.
We at Victoria Abadi Therapies understand that someone using substances can affect the whole family and how people behave and relate to each other. Often the family members suffering goes unnoticed or can be viewed as not as important as the 'addicted persons'. We recognise that the family as a whole, or individual family members can start to become emotionally unwell due to the stress of caring for their loved one who is using.
