The Hermitage, a family business since 1982, is owned by The Hermitage Whittlesey LLP. We have a small yet dedicated leadership team who maintain a strong presence within the home, ensuring that not only are standards maintained to a high level, but that we also strive to the best of our ability to achieve a positive inspection report with the Care Quality Commission.

The Hermitage was formally the vicarage located in the heart of Whittlesey town centre, The Hermitage Residential Home opened its door in 1982 and was run by Mr Peter Thory and Mrs Rita Smith. Today The Hermitage is run by a second generation of daughters. The interior has the traditional charm of a period building with amenities associated with modern living.
We operate a 'resident central' approach to residential care. When you join us at The Hermitage we promise to understand you, your life story and your needs in order to create a personal care plan involving our carers and your relatives. We focus on promoting resident ability which in turn helps self esteem and independence.
A town centre location offers residents the chance to visit their choice of shops, cafes and the library all of which are within easy walking distance. We have two bright and airy lounges along with two dining rooms to the front of the property with views of the local church spire.
The majority of our individually styled rooms are single, however we do accommodate married couples or people who are looking for the companionship of others in our double rooms.All rooms are equipped with washing facilities. Ensuite rooms maybe available on request. Our main bathroom offers a whirlpool bath and we have a wet room for those who prefer a shower.

We endorse and encourage our resident's independence. We coordinate a range of activities including art and craft, cake decorating, bingo, in house entertainment, trips out to local attractions, sing-a-longs and parties.
Our location in the heart of Whittlesey town centre enables our residents to go for a walk on their own or with family, ride their mobility scooters to the shops or go for lunch as a group or individually with carers, family or friends.Our Residents Comfort Fund raises money continually for residents to enjoy their time with us.

The importance of nutrition is at the forefront at The Hermitage as are the benefits of having a healthy balanced diet. We offer a wide variety of seasonal fresh food with plenty of options for our residents and catering for all dietary requirements. Meals are served in our dining rooms, alternatively a resident can have their meal in the comfort of their own room, however many a wonderful conversation happens at the dinner table.
