We are an independent, companion animal veterinary practice that was founded in 1982 by Chris and Pam Hanson. We are extremely proud to have achieved RCVS accreditation as a Tier 2 vet nurse training practice as we believe it aids in maintaining standards and progress and overall improves the service and advice we offer.
We currently have a team of 5 nurses led by our head nurse Samantha Tomlinson who has been with the practice for over 20 years. With the complement of experience, continued professional development and approachability we hope to offer peace of mind and the best preventative healthcare for you and your pets.

Protecting your pet by vaccinating is an important step towards your pet living a long and healthy life. Some of the diseases that we vaccinate against if contracted without this protection can be deadly, while others may cause lifelong health issues.
Vaccines and vaccine protocols are designed and routinely checked by pharmaceutical companies and administered by veterinarians to minimize the frequency of vaccination whilst ensuring that your pet would have adequate protection against these highly contagious diseases should they become exposed to them.

There are many reasons that we recommend neutering pets not intended for breeding and at Hanson's we feel that it is very important to get the timing right for your pet. It is best to discuss this on an individual basis so please ask us at your next appointment and we will be able to advise you accordingly.
At Hanson's we strongly advise microchipping all pets to act as a permanent means of identification so that you can be reunited with a lost or injured pet as soon as possible. If you do not comply with the regulations you may be liable to pay a fine of 500. The microchip is a tiny tag, approximately the size of a grain of rice that is implanted under the skin at the back of the neck.
At Hanson's Vets we want to make preventative health care easy and affordable, to help you give your pets the best care possible. Our pet health plan is not pet insurance- it covers the essential treatments your pet needs throughout life, such as vaccinations, flea and worm treatments and regular health checks.
The dental equipment used at our practice would look quite at home in your dentist's surgery. With an ultrasonic dental de-scaler, air powered polisher with high and low speeds and dental drill we can perform all routine dental work. We also have the facility to perform digital dental radiography to fully assess the health of your pet's teeth.

Just been on our first visit with one of our Griffons, after being disappointed and let down by our last vets. Such a friendly place all staff I spoke too were, friendly, chatty and took an interest in our dogs. They even helpfully took our standard poodle in to be weighed despite me cheekily asking on arrival with our other dog. Thank you.

This was our first visit, and I'm impressed with the thorough and professional service!
Due to COVID restrictions I was unable to be with my cat during the app which caused a bit of anxiety. Upon receiving the phone call I was made to feel at ease. It was clear the vet was attentive and empathetic. The receptionist was also lovely.
