Based in Chandler's Ford, I provide driving tuition in Chandler's Ford, Eastleigh, Winchester & local surrounding areas. My tuition car is a fully electric Kia e-Niro. With no gears or clutch to worry about, learning to drive in a modern electric car is easier than a manual, and great for the environment too!

I will tailor your tuition to suit your individual needs with client centred learning in place, teaching you skills above and beyond those required to pass the practical driving test, and ensuring you're safe on the road for the rest of your life. I welcome all ages and abilities from complete beginners to full licence holders.
Services
I'm Richard, your friendly Chandler's Ford based driving instructor. I've lived in the Winchester area for over 30 years, and I moved to Chandler's Ford in 2018. My motto is "Good Driving Is No Accident" - I pride myself on leaving no stone unturned in my efforts to make you safe and confident on our roads.
Pass Plus is an additional short course of structured training intended to improve the essential skills of new drivers. Hampshire County Council currently offers a 75 contribution towards the cost of Pass Plus for anyone aged 17 to 24 in the Hampshire County Council local authority area. Please note that this excludes the City of Southampton and City of Portsmouth.
You can start learning to drive as soon as you receive your provisional licence. In fact, many learners often find the theory material easier to understand after a little real-world experience. Before you start your practical driving tuition, you must have a valid provisional driving licence. You can apply on the GOV.UK website.
The theory test is a computer-based test, divided into two parts - multiple-choice questions, and the hazard perception test. Both parts are taken in the same sitting. The multiple-choice element consists of 50 questions. Each question has 4 possible answers, and you must select the correct answer or answers.
You must take your provisional driving licence, and your theory test pass certificate. If you aren't able to show these to the examiner, your test won't go ahead, and you will lose the test fee. Before you get in the car, the examiner will test your eyesight by asking you to read a car number plate from a distance of 20 metres.

I passed with Richard in November and I honestly couldn't reccomend him more! I was really nervous to start learning again after a long break and he made sure I always felt comfortable and I really enjoyed my lessons.
Thanks again Rich!

I passed with Richard first time in October of this year. Even though we are in a pandemic a professional standard of verbal communication and good quality service is given consistently and effectively. Could not recommend Richard Chapmans Driving School enough !!

I passed with Richard probably about 9 months ago now. Yes it’s quite a late review though he was truly an excellent instructor who was incredibly easy to build a rapport with quickly. I believe he’s now a Grade A instructor so my congratulations to him for achieving that.

Can't recommend Richard highly enough. I had absolutely no driving experience and was incredibly nervous. I had an awkward schedule to fit into but we still managed a couple of lessons a week. I was really pleased that I found the right driving instructor first time round and didn't have to change, as many learners do. Really nice chap who has infinite patience and is able to calm nerves almost instantly. Thanks again Richard, see you around!

Two weeks away from my test I can happily say my time driving with Richard has been fun as well as helpful. Richard is very kind and friendly, which is really helpful for a nervous teenager on their first lesson. Richard's way of teaching is very helpful, he makes sure you're happy with the last thing you've learned before progressing and always asks me what I want to do with my lesson time and he's only prepared to let a student take their test when he knows they're ready. I've had a really good time learning with Richard and he's taught me a skill I will be able to use for the rest of my life

As the other have said already, if your looking for a friendly, helpful driving instructor in and around Winchester then he your man to go to. His prices are competitive but at same time good. He help me through out to achieve the goal of passing my driving test. He took me though different road conditions and situations though out this time and help me to become confidant driver. I gave him 4 stars because he can some time be a little late, however, he lets you know if he is running late and why. I would recommend Richard to any one who looking for a brilliant driving instructor.

I've had quite a few driving lessons with Richard now and I cant really complain at all. He's giving me confidence in driving and has taught me so much in the time ive had with him. He teaches at my pace and considers my choice of what we want to do each lesson to keep on improving. I really enjoy each lesson I have and would highly recommend him to anyone.
