Therapeutic counselling is a way of helping, individuals and couples, through talking. It is possible to improve emotional, psychological and even physical wellbeing by working with a suitably qualified and experienced person who will listen without judging or offering solutions. It is often a big decision to seek counselling.

It may be the first option to help with a difficulty or it may be after other options have been tried out. Relationships are essential to our existence. Without human contact we fail to thrive and our emotional, physical and psychological wellbeing can suffer.

After qualifying in 2006 I have gained Senior Accreditation with the NCS. As an experienced therapist, I hold the long-standing belief that we all strive for healing, self-understanding and growth towards our potential. In therapeutic, supervision or coaching relationships the 'whole person' approach remains central.

Being able to talk about emotions, fears, or other strong feelings can often help to reduce the intensity of those feelings making them more manageable.
It is often a big decision to seek counselling. It may be the first option to help with a difficulty or it may be after other options have been tried out. You may choose to access counselling yourself or be referred by another person such as a GP. Counselling is offered to people who are seeking help to manage any struggle life has presented.
Relationships are essential to our existence. Without human contact we fail to thrive and our emotional, physical and psychological wellbeing can suffer. However, relationships are challenging and hard work if they are to be sustained and of good quality.

We develop relationship skills from our original relationships with our primary care givers, mother and father, then our siblings, and social relationships as we are growing up and developing as individuals.Relationships go through change over time. Sometimes events, life stage, just growing up and older mean relationships are more challenging, less fulfilling and pleasurable.
Lots of people talk about 'being stressed' or 'anxious' - it is common for everyone at some time or other and is a healthy or natural response. Demands on our brain or body cause stress, being frightened or fearful, feeling worried can create feelings of anxiety. A whole array of behaviours can tell us we are stressed, and if this is sustained over a period of time longer-term health problems can occur.
