The Lion Royal Hotel
The welcoming Lion Royal Hotel is situated in the centre of the picturesque market town of Rhayader, nestled in the heart of Mid Wales. There has been an hotel on this site accommodating travellers for centuries. Run by the Collard family since 1947, a warm welcome is always guaranteed at the Lion Royal.

After a busy day of activities, our guests are drawn to the comfortable Chesterfield sofa in the bar. Kick back next to a roaring log fire and enjoy a traditional Welsh evening. Our traditional coaching inn is the perfect base for motorcyclists, cyclists, walkers and large parties. Our 15 ensuite rooms include single, twin, double and family options.
Services
Situated in the Elan Valley - Mid Wales, we really do have one of the most beautiful parts of the country right on our doorstep. We take different routes through the hills, valleys, rivers and woodlands each day. We explore parts of the area that would be difficult to get to on foot, giving you the opportunity to experience the views, wildlife and tranquillity that the Elan Valley has to offer on horseback.
The Lion Royal has a long-standing association with those that enjoy the freedom of an engine & two wheels. We are ideally placed in the heart of Wales for both on & off road riding.

Not only are the Radnorshire roads something of a "Mecca" for those that enjoy tarmac under their wheels, Trail Riders also enjoy the greatest choice of green-laning in the country with plenty of mud, bogs, shale, rocks & rivers to be encountered - all within easy reach of the hotel.
The Lion Royal is literally on the 136 mile Wye Valley Walkwhich runs from Chepstow in the south to Plynlimon in the north. The Elan Valley also provides spectacular opportunities for exploring on foot. Whether on or off road, the area around The Lion Royal is a great place to discover on two wheels.
The Lion Royal Hotel has a large function room with ample space for parties of up to 120 for full meal or many more for buffet & dance events. For business meetings & conferences all rooms can be booked at competitive full or half day rates. We can also accommodate evening & weekend bookings for a small surcharge.
