While there are no set charges, my current minimum fee is 60.00, with an hourly rate of 210.00 per hour. In addition to his own fees, a Notary may need to charge out of his own pocket expenses for fees to The Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Embassies, Translators or Advisers on Foreign Law. The Notaries' Rules require that their fees be reasonable in all the circumstances of the work they are being asked to do.
A Notary is a qualified lawyer - a member of the third and oldest branch of the legal profession in England and Wales. Notaries are appointed by the Court of Faculties of the Archbishop of Canterbury and are subject to regulation by the Master of the Faculties. The rules which affect Notaries are very similar to the rules which affect Solicitors.
