Created By Hand is owned and run by fused glass artist David Humphreys and as the name suggests the shop specialises in promoting fine art gifts, hand made by some of the best artists and makers in the region. The range of crafts on offer include ceramics, jewellery, paper and mixed media crafts as well as, of course fused glass. The shop also offers a range of Craft Workshops with several crafts people personally teaching their skills.
We are situated in the courtyard of the prestigeous Strelley Hall, next to the Mulberry Tree Cafe, so if you are looking for unique and ideal gifts for that special someone, or if you simply want to treat yourself, why not visit us, have a look at the local handiwork and chat with Dave and the team to see if they might be able to help you take up a new hobby.

She creates simple and elegant jewellery, inspired by industrial museums. She manages to catch a small snap shop of tiny parts then develope them into crisp clean lines using precious metals. These lines are often softened with the addition of wood from a sustainable source.

In 2015 her life changed in an instant when she suffered a Stroke, resulting in a loss of speech and the use of her right arm. Painting then became a means of rehabilitation. We are delighted that Ellen has made an excellent recovery, with only speech occasionally letting her down. Her work has evolved and she now works in acrylics, inks, collage and various other mediums, creating texture and a 'realistic abstract' feel to her art.
Ray and Kathy Sylvester established Temima Crafts in 1995 after taking early retirement from teaching. Over the years they have designed, made and sold a range of products, many combining wood and textiles. Since 2003 Temima Crafts has become associated with increasingly intricate multi level band saw cut wooden boxes.
We are very fortunate to be stocking Lisa Reids beautiful range of hand crafted cards from The Akari. Using traditional techniques, Lisa brings flower pressing into the 21st century with bold colours, shapes and forms. Pressing flowers from her own garden she creates new 'flowers' and abstract shapes, almost jewel like in their translucency.

Great gift shop and an opportunity to see the products from the crafts people that run the workshops. I’ve attended 3 so far, Wire Wrap Jewellery, Enamelling and Fused Glass - all we’re fantastic, good instruction, patient teachers, an ideal introduction to different arts and crafts. Workshops are well organised, COVID safe and a really friendly atmosphere, adapting to all abilities. The cafe is also excellent, lovely homemade food! I would definitely recommend the workshops offered at Created by Hand. Thanks Dave.

My sister ( who is very anxious about going out because if Covid ) and I did the watercolour painting workshop. And I can honestly say that David as done an amazing job with the workshop class room. We had our temperatures taken on arrival and when we where seated at tables we had screens separating them , we had handgel ,antibacterial wipes ,… tissuès and all the equipment on our individual tables. We felt 100% safe in these uncertain Covid 19 times. So please if you are thinking of doing a class at the Workshop but are feeling a bit wary , please don't. Go for it and hopefully you
