Services
OTR provides the only free and confidential drop-in counselling, information and sexual health service for young people aged 11-24 living, working or studying in the Borough of Richmond. We help more than 1,500 young people every year. Our Vision is for every young person in our Borough to possess the skills and confidence to overcome life's challenges.
I trained as a counsellor at the Metanoia Institute, counselled for a while at a GP surgery and then took a placement at Off The Record in 1996. I enjoyed the challenge of counselling young people, where there is a need to be real and down-to-earth. I was a volunteer counsellor here for seven years, including a counselling post at Grey Court School.
Before making a donation please consider signing up for gift aid. It can make a big difference to us. If you are a UK taxpayer, the value of your gift can be increased by 25% under the Gift Aid scheme, at no extra cost to you. If you don't have a Paypal account you can make a payment using just your credit or debit card instead - just select 'Donate with a card', once you are on the Paypal website.
We're pleased to let you know that pre-booked counselling sessions are running both online and face to face. Counselling gives you the chance to talk to someone who doesn't know you or your family, friends, teachers etc. Counselling offers a safe space where you can talk about anything you want, no matter how big or small it may seem.
Our drop-in service is currently running on limited hours. Usually someone can see you straight away (see opening times), but if we are busy we may ask you to wait or come back later. We can help by giving information and are happy to talk about anything that might be bothering you, including sexual health or relationship problems (but we can't give contraceptive advice or the pill).

The staff are really nice, understanding and incredibly helpful, which was impressive when I found out that 1/3 of local young people go there at some point for help.
They do confidential counseling and advice, and seem to provide a real pressure valve for young people when they don't feel able to go to their parents, teachers, or other adults in times of need.
Every town could do with an Off The Record for kids.
