I love what I do and thanks to Wendy Allan (Irwin) for introducing me to line dancing. I have taught various fitness classes off and on throughout my career and feel this is a great addition to my repertoire. I decided in 2012 to retrain as a specialised fitness instructor for the older adult. After some research, I decided to look at Laterlife Training courses and Cardiac Rehabilitation.
I am a qualified OTAGO Home Exercise Instructor, Postural Stability Instructor and Cardiac Rehabilitation Instructor. I have attended various CPD courses such as Osteoporosis, COPD, Mental Health and Working with Individuals with Visual Impairments. I work for East Renfrewshire Leisure and Culture teaching on their Vitality programme.

Services
I want people to enjoy my classes, relax, make new friends and have fun. Always remember it's ok to make mistakes. My aim is to create a happy, healthy and active community where likeminded people can meet, socialise and dance their socks off. I deliver line dance classes to all levels and work with other teachers to make sure dancers can be moved on to advanced classes if they wish to learn more.
Anyone at any age can respond to strength training in the case of dancing, it is weight bearing activity ie. Weight bearing dancing is so good for osteoporosis. This medical condition can be reduced over time to osteopenia a lesser condition or even disappear all together. Studies show that dancing lowered the risk of dementia by improving cognitive reserves and increase complexity of neuronal synapses.
When you start to attend line dance classes, socials or even line dance weekend breaks the following rules of line dance will help. The clue is in the name. If the DJ does a good job, let them know you have appreciated their efforts. People are all too willing to air a complaint, but compliments are few and far between.
Allison is a very patient teacher. Very relaxed in her approach and has a great sense of humour. Really enjoyable social. It was a great idea getting everyone in the one place for chatting more together and dancing. I attend Allison's class in Broomhill. Fantastic teacher - Well she must be as I have never kept up any type of class in the past especially dance.
