Vision Aid Overseas is a charity providing eye care and spectacles to the most needy in the third world. Clare has been actively involved with this charity since 2004. She has volunteered on two projects to Ethiopia and on each project helped give over 2000 people the gift of sight. Spectacles donated by you are repaired, upgraded and then after the eye examination, matched to the individual.

We've been regular customers of Downes opticians since they opened. My sun has a lot of issues with his sight and we've been so well looked after, with no request ever being too much. Our son loves going to the optician and adores wearing his glasses. I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. Highly recommend.

Have used Downes opticians for a number of years, we have found them incredibly professional, infinitely patient (sonetimes with uncooperative small people!) and hugely helpful. My 3 children love seeing Clare (including the previously uncooperative one) and are very happy with their glasses. We have found the team exceedingly helpful on many occasions with repairing broken glasses, advise about child eye health and reassurance.

Hi Everyone. Just want to say few words about the place. I've received Excellent service from the DOCTOR very happy with Her, but unfortunately the polish receptionist Very Very Rude person, never seen her in the good mood, don't know how she last there that long, I think she should pick up the mushrooms instead and be isolated from customers. Don't know how many people's left because of her, I'm sure lots. Thanks.
