The Talisman is the only English pub so named and offers a truly welcoming environment at the heart of its local community, so whether you're looking for some top quality traditional English fayre or a convenient place to meet friends and family for a quiet drink, our professional hospitality is sure to impress.
The pub joined the Hall & Woodhouse family in 1983 and is named after the Talisman Strawberry, which is entwined within Park Gate's and the surrounding areas history, which was once strawberry fields. Indeed one of the pub's other claims to fame is a dining area dedicated to the Tornado Talisman car.

Services
We've been working hard over the past few months to make sure all of our delicious food dishes are just that little bit better. As well as our usual favourites like Steak & Tangle Foot Pie, Hand-Battered Fish & Chips and our famous H&W Burger, we've also got a range of tasty sandwiches and of course our delicious Sunday Roasts, which we think are the best (apart from Mum's!)
We've sorted an amazing range of drinks for you to enjoy either with a meal or simply on their own. Our very own range of Badger Beers are only sold in Hall & Woodhouse pubs, so we can guarantee the very best quality cask and bottled ales brewed right in the heart of the Dorset countryside.
Alongside our beers we also have a comprehensive selection of lagers and ciders, together with an extensive wine list, with wines from all around the World and an ever increasing range of spirits, particularly local and regional gins and malt whisky.

One of the key attributes of the perfect English Country pub is that it is at the heart of its local community. That's why we believe it's so important to give something back and detailed below are just a couple of things we are doing locally to help out in some small way. Community is incredibly important to us and as part of this, we help to fundraise for a local charity.

Good pub, shame it has closed until Feb for a refit. Service was good both ordering at the bar and on the app. Called in advance and was told they would have limited stock due to running it down which was good to know in advance. There was still plenty to choose from for the non fussy drinkers out there. Looking forward to seeing what its new look is when it reopens

Pub was completely empty at 1630 on a Wednesday afternoon.
Bar staff were unhelpful and saw servicing customers as an inconvenience. There was a group of 7 of us and we wanted 1-2drinks each. We were even asked if there was many more of us as they had a large booking coming later. Again, the pub was completely empty.
I have tried booking this venue for a lunchtime meal for 15 people and told they don’t have tables big enough. Would have thought hospitality businesses would appreciate the custom.
Good location and nice building but spoilt by staff who don’t want to serve customers.

Went here for a family meal on a Sunday, the menu was very small with not a great deal of choice. What we received was of good quality however the service wasn't great as we had to send 50% of our meals back as there was something wrong with them. Eg wrong side, steak cooked wrong, wrong sauce on different steak. Dog friendly indoors which was a plus!

Went to the Talisman for lunch today. The fire was burning, the staff were friendly as always, the food was super tasty! The only tragedy was we were the only people there for a while!! They have lovely… atmosphere, delicious Christmas dinner and tasty drinks on offer. People need to get down there and treat themselves to support their local eateries!

I visit this pub regularly for drinks on weekends as it offers a nice relaxed feel and plenty of seats. It can be pretty busy on a Friday but Saturdays are quieter.
They've recently extended their outdoor seating area in time for the summer which will be good for when the sun eventually comes out.
We booked a table for lunch as there was 12 of us and no-one was disappointed with neither food nor service, it was pretty quiet though.
They don't play any music so it's a good pub for a catch up. Plenty of parking available.

I used to live 2 minutes away from this pub and still go there about once a month.
The food is really good and the prices arent bad (can be a little on the pricy side for some things).
Inside the pub is plit into two sides each with little spaces so although the pub is big it feels really cosy.
When the cold really sets in they light fires which is amazing (if you can get a table near it!) The style is traditional and it is kept in a really good state.
There is plenty of parking at the back of the pub and a large outside area with heaters (for the smokers :o) ).
The only bad experince I have had
