Services
Priory Vet Group was established in the 1960's and has been providing the very best care for pets in our community 24hrs a day ever since. The practice is owned by vets Daniel May, Emma Newton and Jess Roose. They are ably supported by 6 assistants.
Working as a whole team enables vets to develop their interests in specific disciplines, often undertaking further qualifications, but also to combine their skills to provide the best care when needed. We are the only veterinary practice in Dorset to have a combination of vets with advanced qualifications and expertise in ophthalmology, surgery, cardiology and dentistry.

At Priory Veterinary Group we pride ourselves on going the extra mile to provide the very best care for your pets 24hrs a day. We are the only tier three accredited veterinary hospital in East Dorset. The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) regulate and accredit veterinary hospitals by conducting rigorous inspections and setting high standards.
We offer appointments from 9am to 6pm at a variety of times across our three surgeries so you will be able to find one which is convenient for you. We keep some appointments available each day to allow us to fit in unexpected and urgent situations. We will always see your pet as quickly as possible for genuine emergencies.
Here you can find some of our animal health information leaflets available to view and download. We hope you find them useful. They contain general information including feeding, housing, exercise, socialisation, flea and worm treatment and common problems. If you have any concerns about your pet, the best option is always to give us a ring and we can advise you further.
The loss of a pet can be devastating and we understand that they are a huge part of your family. We will do everything we can to make a difficult time as peaceful, dignified and easy for you as possible. We offer home visits for euthanasia as well as appointments at our practice. We have dedicated members of the team who have undergone grief counselling training to be on hand should you need them.

We first came involved with this practice having moved into the area in 2020 and having released our beloved Norfolk boy to them were devastated when hours later we were told he had died.
Later this year we have had breathing difficulties with our 12 year much loved Norfolk girl terrier WYNNIE. We contacted the vets - out of hours on a Sunday and – because we had visited another vets when out of the area we were told that we were no longer able to receive emergency care. After much debate the vet did see Wynnie but her attitude and importantly level of care was disgraceful and later that same

On a follow up call intended to provide more info I was efficiently informed that nothing found in xray and bird on its way to wildlife rescue centre for recovery. I was not charged for post rescue work. Extreme Covid-19 precautions were in place. I think the receptionist meant to say that the barbed hook fragment in its foot had been carefully removed, but was probably under extreme pressure at that time. Privately I think
