Messer & Matthews
We are an entirely independent, family owned business which has been established in Guildford for over 55 years. We offer a very high level of expertise and many years of experience. We can review your existing financial situation and give you a realistic assessment of your likely needs or focus exclusively on specific issues requiring advice.

In either case, you will need to set aside some time to talk to us - the first one-hour consultation is free. There is no charge and no obligation while we find out about you and you find out about us. Depending on your instructions, we will normally carry out a needs analysis based on your current situation, taking into account any specific plans and objectives you may have.
Services
Messer and Matthews Ltd was first established in Guildford in 1964 and has provided over 55 years of committed service to both private and corporate clients. We hope you will find us friendly and approachable, and whilst we may be a highly qualified, we will try not to "blind you with science". We believe that part of our role as advisers is to make the complex world of finance easily understood by the lay person.
Charles has a long list of professional qualifications and is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute. He has been an examiner for the Chartered Institute on many occasions. Charles is a Chartered Financial Planner and a Fellow to the Pensions Management Institute by examination (which is a higher level qualification in pensions than the more traditional G60 route taken by most advisers).
We provide a range of services from a general financial review to specialist reports on specific pension issues. We will help you plan your finances in the most tax efficient manner taking account of income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax, ensuring that you are making the most of every penny.
When you first contact us we will ask you to briefly outline your reason for seeking advice, whether it be to conduct an overall financial review or if you need specific advice, for example as you plan for, or approach retirement. Normally we will then ask you to visit our offices during office hours for an initial consultation.
The first hour is always free of charge unless we have specifically stated otherwise and there is no obligation on either side to proceed further. After the initial consultation, we will agree with you how you will pay for our services, whether you pay a fee as a cheque or bank transfer, or whether our costs are to be met by a deduction from of any financial product you invest in.
