Andrew King is an Ophthalmic Optician, Independent Prescriber Optometrist and Contact Lens Practitioner. Excellence in clinical care: the practice has invested in the latest eye care technology, including optical coherence tomography and digital retinal photography.
This charity provides eye care services to people in developing countries who are unnecessarily visually impaired because of poor eyesight. Last year, Vision Aid Overseas helped over 45,700 patients to see better by providing eye examinations and spectacles. If you have any unwanted spectacles at home, simply hand them into the practice and we will ensure that they are sent to Vision Aid Overseas' collection depot in England.
The eye examination provides not only a spectacle prescription; it is an important opportunity for recognising abnormalities which may indicate injury or disease needing medical care. This applies both to diseases of the eye, which may endanger sight, and to certain other diseases endangering general health.
In 2016 the practice installed a state of the art Topcon OCT camera. OCT- Optical Coherence Tomography- is an advanced eye scan for people of all ages. Similar to ultrasound, OCT uses light rather than sound waves to illustrate the different layers that make up the back of the eye. The scan is non invasive, painless, simple and quick.
