We are an independent Opticians and Contact Lens Practice offering an individual, professional service since 1967. The practice utilises the latest OCT technology to investigate signs of Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy and Macular Degeneration. Our Opticians are accredited to offer the 'Welsh Eye Health Exam' for eye emergencies as well as screening for all eye conditions including Cataract.

We also offer a Low Vision Service for those patients with poorer vision.
Services
We are a small group of independent optical practices based in South Wales. Our aim is to provide a high quality professional eye care service delivered with a personal touch. The first 'Darlington Opticians' practice was established in Merthyr Tydfil in 1967 by John Darlington who retired after 36 years as an Optician and Contact Lens Specialist in 2003.
We supply and fit contact lenses from a wide range of manufacturers including CooperVision, Johnson & Johnson and Ultravision. We can correct almost all vision types with contact lenses no matter how complicated the prescription. We will spend some time with you assessing your suitability for contact lenses and discussing your expectations and needs including the number of hours in a day and days in a week you would like to wear lenses for.
Designer Sunglasses from famous brands including Ted Baker, Fendi, Radley, Superdry, Polaroid. We can make them any depth of colour you like from the very palest to a full sunglass tint. Lenses that change from completely clear indoors to full sunglass tint in bright sunlight. Polarised sunglasses have traditionally been used by fishermen reduce reflected glare and to 'see through' the water.
Our Opticians will help you to choose the correct frame size to suit your child and their prescription. We will also give you advice on thinner, tougher or tinted lenses where appropriate. Our 'Kids Specs' range is constantly being updated with frames to suit all ages from pre-school through infants and juniors to secondary school children and onto young adults.
If you work in an environment that requires you to use protective eyewear such as goggles or a mask then you may be entitled to have a sight test funded by your employer. If you need your glasses to see your work properly then your employer may also provide you with prescription protective eyewear (Safety Spectacles).
