Dr Roisin Mackie is a specialist in paediatrics working at Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. Dr Scott Mackie is a specialist in eye diseases and is a Fellowship examiner which is the highest qualification for the College of Optometrists. Each has several post graduate qualifications in Low Vision and Independent Prescribing.

What is Low Vision? Low vision is reduced central and/or peripheral vision that cannot be improved by normal spectacles, surgery or medication. It can affect a patient's ability and/or mobility to perform everyday tasks. What causes Low Vision? Low vision is caused by a variety of reasons.

The commonest are Age-Related Macular Degeneration (wear and tear at the back of the Eye); Diabetic Eye Disease (bleeding/oedema within the eye); Glaucoma (pressure inside the eye) and Cataract (clouding of the middle of the eye).An eye examination using specialised equipment. 2. A questionnaire to identify the person's history, symptoms, needs and objectives.

Consistently happy with the service: eye check, glasses and contact lenses. Both doctors are very scrupulous and happy to answer any question. They are also great with kids. The receptionist are always kind and smiley, and very helpful to remind you when the next test is due.
