Bridlington is the proud owner of two award-winning beaches of gleaming golden sands, refurbished promenades packed with fun, a sparkling sea, a picturesque, bustling harbour and a town full of attractions. The North York Moors National Park is a beautiful landscape of stunning moorland, spectacular coast, ancient woodland and historic sites.
Sitting at the mouth of the River Esk, the seaside town of Whitby is one of the most popular holiday destinations on the North Yorkshire coast. As famous for its gothic associations as it is for its sandy beaches, fish and chips or local gemstone, Jet, the charming fishing town has an enticingly eerie, dark side.
For beach-breakers in search of the quintessential seaside experience, three things spring to mind: sun, sand and snacks. It's no surprise that Yorkshire's rugged coastline, punctuated by little fishing villages and popular resorts, is a favourite destination among UK holidaymakers, and there's no better way to get a taste of the region than by sampling the coastal cuisine!
We've put together a useful guide of things to do this summer and highlighted some of our favourites below. Events and festivals come in all shapes and sizes in Yorkshire, from agricultural shows to famous Regattas. Situation in the Great Yorkshire Showground on the outskirts of Harrogate the Great Yorkshire Show regularly attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.
