This is a purpose designed new building for adults with severe learning disabilities. Whilst this new Inclusion Centre is primarily for people with Profound and Multiple Learning and Complex Disabilities with very specific needs, the Centre is required to be adaptable in offering services, support and facilities to a wide range of people within the Sutton Community.
The manner in which the proposed building is designed allows for a sensible and economical phasing of the construction process to deliver Phase 3 expansion by 2014. Phases 1 & 2 focused on providing increased classroom and other ancillary accommodation for junior age pupils (age 7-11). The third and final phase involves the creation of a new hall and dining facilities.
An example of HOCA's ability to function effectively with building users is demonstrated at Granfers Hall where the user client, who is a Charitable Trust, realised during early construction stage that they did not have sufficient office space. HOCA responded to this situation immediately and presented a solution to solve the problem within one week.
