McDowalls have a growing reputation in this complex and often misunderstood area of valuation. We have a team of staff who deal with lease extensions, headed by the firms owner, Chris Baker. McDowalls has acted for both lessees and freeholders on a regular basis and have undertaken this type of work for over 40 years.
This is a very complex area of law, the starting point of which is The Leasehold Reform Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 (as amended by the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002). This Act allows lessees certain specific rights if they meet the required criteria (laid out by the Act) to acquire the freehold of the building in which their unit forms part.
We offer a range of flexible payment options for our valuation reports including online, cheque and BACS. For instructions received from individual homeowners, we can accept payment direct to avoid any involvement by the Landlord. We will take normally payment prior to carrying out the property inspection.

For the garages and lands - We will be approaching local authority w/c 18 November for Improvement Notice, this would be something they would need to do under their regulations

The answer from them after 4 months - I am sorry you are unhappy with the result of our visit to your home. We have explained that the access land was sold off some years ago.
Do not use this Management company, 17 years living on leasehold property and not even 7 days they ever visited or resolved any problem

Please do not deal with company for the property management as they Useless even. Multiple problems in the building that went unresolved. D. When reported and got the sense that even felt like I was just making it up! DON'T USE THEM. Really anger company from a building they manage. Much better out there.
1.) 7 months common land issue wasn't fixed. Live on the 1st floor.
2.) Roof guttering pipes leaking for several months.
Disorganised, inefficient, poor communication, you have to hector them to get the smallest tasks completed - they always do nothing. Avoid.

Landlords and property owners AVOID this company at all costs!
Sadly, after being appointed to manage our building in 2019, McDowall's have continued to fail on so many levels. The property is now in a worse state than when they took over.
They overcharge for their services and then don't provide them, and they take leaseholders money and don't carry out the works they plan. They are also very good at reciting 'the law' but they don't seem to apply to themselves.
We paid them (the leaseholders) approx.£3K, six weeks ago (after being threatened with LEAGL ACTION) yet they tell us work is start

Earlier this year, Chris came to value our property as part of us staircasing to purchase the rest of the share. He was lovely to meet in person and acted so professionally. Eleni in the office was prompt and so helpful. Our report was sent in within days. If anyone is looking for a valuation on there property I highly recommend McDowalls.
