Advanced Roofing was formed in 1989 with owners Alan Dall and Scott Fyfe. Alan and Scott were both self employed and were working together on a job as contractors. The main contractor went out of business owing money to both Alan and Scott. The owner handed over one of his vans and a set of ladders as payment and said "go out and make themselves a living".
Our office is based in Trinity in the North of Edinburgh, but our work takes us across the city and neighbouring counties. Over the years Advanced Roofing has grown to a 22 strong team that includes slaters, tilers, leadworkers, stoneworkers and our office admin team. Services
At Advanced Roofing we have been maintaining Edinburgh's roofs since 1989. We work on some of Edinburgh's oldest and most recognisable roofs as well as installing brand new roofs too. Over the years we have built up a wealth of knowledge and experience working with traditional materials such as slate, stone and lead as well as modern materials with the latest technologies in Sarnafil and Bauder to keep our clients roofs watertight.
Sarnafil is single ply PVC flat roofing membrane with a BBA (British Board of Agrment, Glossary) Sarnafil G410 - 15 year guarantee with BBA life expectancy in excess of 45 years. This innovative roofing solution is made from a PVC (Glossary) or FPO material (Glossary) and fixed by approved registered installers via a hot air welding process.
Slates and tiles are layered in a slope to direct water from the roof apex down to the valleys and guttering. Each slate or tile is fixed to the roof by a nail with ridge tiles used for the roof junctions. There may also be chimneys, vents and windows that feature on your roof. Guttering and downpipes are also elements of your roofing infrastructure.
Felt roofing is traditionally found on the flat roofs of tenements blocks and offices, home extensions, commercial units and garages. As the name suggests these are roofs with no slope or sloping of less than 10%. Flat roofs in the UK are traditionally clad in bitumen felt roofing systems. Felt is a type of roll roofing that applied in strips.
Lead sheet is widely used throughout Edinburgh's roofs both on our heritage listed buildings and new builds. Good quality leadwork maintains the original look of a property and lasts a lifetime if installed correctly. High quality leadwork is strong, durable, sustainable and recyclable. Lead also enhances the aesthetics of any building old or new.
