New Starters Driving School has access to a full 60 hectare site with large tarmac area and road layout, just on the outskirts of Carlisle.
We can teach you how to set off safely, pull up safely, steer correctly, use the gears and clutch, engine breaking and even how to do a hill start all on your first lesson. New Starters Driving School uses a mixture of both ADI's and PDI's to help cover their customer base. I get a real buzz from helping people to learn to drive. I am very aware no two people are the same and I believe that learning to drive should be fun. I find giving people the freedom to drive and achieve their goals a very rewarding experience.
With New Starters Driving School, you will be taught almost every aspect of driving from Basic Controls to Parallel Parking, in a safe friendly professional and fun environment. We have a refreshly new way of teaching people to drive, in that no two lessons are ever the same, as we try to cover a new subject each time.
Pass Plus is a practical training course that takes at least 6 hours and is for drivers to improve their skills and drive more safely - including motorways, night time driving and all weather driving - there is no test to pass as long as our instructor is happy with your progress. It can be taken at any time although we recommend this to new drivers in the year after passing their driving test.
If you have any questions in relation to the legal requirement of towing, please call 01228 546688. As usual, here at New Starters Driving School, we do things a little differently, we believe in Cumbria, some people already have the basics of towing or reversing a trailer. Most B+E providers only supply a full day's trailer training, so why spend a fortune on a full day's training, when a few hours might be all you need.
When I was learning to drive John made it easier than I had expected it to be and I found that his teaching methods were good for me. I would recommend new starters driving school as I passed my test on my first attempt and found them very helpful. When looking for an instructor in carlisle I had to find one that was encouraging and helpful, I was taught by John wardle and found that learning to drive was better than I had expected it to be.

Never had a problem from the start to the finish with any cars or instructors. Very flexible with hours giving the circumstance of test changed multiple time. When explaining situations the instructors make it very clear and easy to understand. Can’t recommend enough

Offroad lessons were really helpful to practice basics and then learning with Steve was really fun with great value for money and time! The lessons were relaxed and informal and I was able to learn not only how to pass the test but how to be a safe driver and passed first time! Would defo recommend!
