Services
The easiest way to apply for your provisional driving licence is online. You can apply for your car licence up to three months before your 17th birthday and you must meet the eyesight requirement of being able to read a number plate from 20 meters. If you need to wear glasses or contact lenses to meet the requirements then you MUST wear them every time you drive.

When our daughter turned seventeen in April 2021, she was keen to learn to drive. Covid times finding an instructor wasn't easy. Luckily Bill was only one of two instructors that got back to her. Bill was flexible to fitting in lessons around her school timetable. Our daughter enjoyed learning to drive with Bill and today passed her test first time. If you live in Carlisle and need an instructor, choose Bill you won't be disappointed and I will be recommending Carlisle Driver Training to everyone. Thanks Bill we have one happy daughter, possibly the best early Christmas present, passing her driving

Learning to drive with Bill has been an absolute pleasure, whenever I was on a lesson, he had the ability to implement a great deal of confidence in my driving and reinforced that I had the skills to deal with any situation. He is adaptable and reliable in all aspects whether it be timings of lesson to people's level of skills. He always kept a calm and professional attitude which helps with composure while driving, giving educative tips and advice from years of experience.

Bill is a great instructor. He does his best to book lessons around work/eduction and is 100% reliable. While on lessons he’s patient and has great teaching techniques and lessons are always well planned. he’s very professional but also has great banter so lessons are always chill and never boring.
Considering all the current covid procedures in place he’s following all the rules to make lessons as safe as possible.

After lessons with a previous instructor knocked my confidence, starting lessons with Bill has really helped develop my driving skills. He is very patient, even when I’m stressed out or anxious, he lets me go at my own pace. Very considerate and friendly, and I would definitely recommend!

I have been with Bill since December 2019, he has been patient and had great communication throughout all lockdowns and Covid restrictions. Not only is he encouraging but is also great to chat to in the car and has helped boost my driving skills massively. Passed first time today and couldn’t have done it without him, highly recommend for new starters of for drivers looking to swap instructors!

I had a few prior lessons before starting with Bill, which felt seamless; I found his lessons really structured & organised; he’s friendly and patient, and flexible with working around work for lesson timings.
